Come in and burn

As if there's any other kind but check out this great interview with the aging alternative icon himself, none other than Henry Rollins where he talks about many things, among them why we'll never see a Black Flag reunion, which is one of them good and bad all at the same time things, if you ask me . . . and I know you didn't but you're here so you must want to know what I think.
.
Right?
.
Well we've had an early spring here, and according to the Weather Network it's not going to last, but I'll take it, most of the snow is melted out of my yard, we had temperatures in the double digits on the weekend and I was out on my bike both days. Not too bad for mid-March in Sunset Country, eh?
.
The warm weather will mean the animals will start coming out of the bush again, so maybe you're in the market for a new set of bull bars for your truck. If so have a look at the offerings from Herd Integrated Vehicle Protection. If you put some spikes on them they'd look just like something straight out of Mad Max (and brother I don't mean Thunderdome) and don't forget to check out the product testimonials.
.
.
PS - Happy Birthday Mr. Erik Estrada

Bbrrrraaaaaiiiiiiiinnnnnnnsssssss

Well if the internets don't just keep getting better & better.
.
If you want proof, check out Zombies or Not which is an undead version of Hot or Not, Rate My Ride or Rate My Rack. And while we're talking Zombies how's about a nice article featured both on Cracked and Zombies or Not, how 7 iconic movie characters would do in a zombie attack. I thought it was worth the read, but I'm often thinking and planning how to get through a zombie invasion and/or World War Z.
.
If you're looking for help getting through WWZ yourself perhaps you can look to this novelty Zombie Survival Kit for some inspiration. Or maybe this one up for auction on eBay will help? My only piece of advice is remember, you never have to reload a blade. Thank you Zombie Survival Guide your practical advice and case histories may just save my bacon yet.
.
And here's some good news for the Zombie Movie Fan, it's reported that Peter Jackson, maker such fine pieces of classic cinema as the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Dead Alive (the custard scene will be with me forever), is to direct a Nazi zombie time travel movie. Now if that's not a movie with epic win written all over it I don't know what does.
.
He may not be a zombie (yet) but last week the wrestling world lost one of its greatest managers of all time, the one the only Captain Lou Albano. Paul Heyman has a decent good bye article to the Captain on his website here with some fond memories and a bit of insider information.
.
PS - I swear it wasn't me that did this. But I do think it's funny.

Is Going to Blame it on the Train

Yeah I'm back with another short but sweet one.
.
Maybe you're in the market for a 2010 Camaro, and if you are you might want to have a look at the 68 point dealer delivery checklist, you know so you can give the car a good once over with the common problems they're having with this car, like broken transmission output shafts. Although since that same tranny is used in several other sports cars it's more likely a bad batch of transmissions than a problem with that transmission as a whole.
.
I still love my Camaro, but the 2010 has mine beat hands down power and performance wise. But I guess that's the difference between three and four hundred horsepower eh?
.
Now let's shift gears from awesome cars to awesome actors, and how can you get more awesome than Mickey Rourke? I mean this is the man who told Iron Man 2 Director Jon Favreau that he wanted his character in the film to get drunk and argue with his pet parrot, or at least according to this he did. Told you he was awesome, but wait it gets better.
.
Seems that recently while partying in London he ended up with a statue of Christ (and who hasn't?) and punching the shit out of a traffic barrier (and who hasn't wanted to?). Good times, good times. But it gets better, check out the top 7 awesome things that you didn't know about Mickey.
.
And now this is a must share bit of movie news, even if it doesn't involve Mr. Rourke, but here's the trailer for Tim Burton's production of Alice in Wonderland starring none other than Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. I'm looking forward to this film, Burton & Depp are great at what they do and when they do it together it's even better and the Alice in Wonderland stories are great, even if they were written by a man with an unhealthy attraction to little girls for a little girl. But that being said, do read the books.
.
And I will sign off today with what just might be the best power ballad EVAR.
.
Until next time.

Happy Birthday Hoff

If you didn't know today is David Hasselhoff's 57th birthday. I can only speak for myself here but I'd go party with Lady Gaga (who looks nothing what I pictured her looking like) like he did, maybe they were celebrating the Hoff's birthday early.

You Still Here?

Yeah yeah it's a been a long time, but maybe I've been busy doing stuff in real life having great adventures (like rocking out at the Winnipeg stop of the Canadian Carnage Tour - check out the concert videos on Youtube, the Winnipeg Sun Review and the Winnipeg Free Press Review) and shit like that. Or not. I'll let you decide on that, but no matter I'm back here after a month and half and plan to hammer out something for my fan.
.
So in the past couple weeks I'm sure your Celebrity Death Beeper has been ringing off the hook with the deaths of Farrah Fawcett (like the guys in 2 Cents said The Dead Don't Rest for the Beautiful - but she had a great spread in Playboy in the mid-90's, check it yo), Micheal Jackson (still creepy even when dead, the question is, is he creepier dead or alive? Take a peek at some of his stuff and you decide.), Billy Mays (who will stop the Sham-Wow Guy now?) and Mollie Sugden aka Mrs Slocombe on the BBC series Are You Being Served?
.
And my final homage to MJ, the Thai Prison Thriller Dance.
.
Man I wish my business card was this cool.
.
Anyway gotta get going - maybe I'll be back tomorrow, maybe I won't, you'll have to come back and check for yourself.

Is Spring Going to Take This Time?

Good morning iPhriends, how's it going? The sun is shining brightly and it stopped snowing yesterday around dinner time, although there was a thick frost on everything when I got up this morning . . . but let's hope winter had its last hurrah for a while. I've had my fill. It's nearly May and I still have the heat on.
.
I *finally* got to see the Watchmen film Friday night at our local theatre and let me tell you it was worth the wait. I think they did a very good job of translating the books to the screen and look forward to purchasing the DVD release with up to one extra hour of footage.
.
If you seen the Watchmen I think you'd have to agree that Jackie Earle Haley, the man who played Rorschach in that film (and Kelly in the Bad News Bears), he'll make for a great, and much darker, Freddy Krueger in the upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street reboot (according to this he is anyway).
.
Oh and those of you are interested how's about some pics of Malin Akkerman (the actress who played the Silk Spectre II in the film) forgetting the rule about wearing gitch under your skirt, especially when getting in and out of automobiles and you're famous and people like to take pictures of you.
.
You know I'm always planning for World War Z and think that it would be in your best interest if you did as well, because well you know I care. So what's your zombie contingency plan? If you haven't come up with one on your own yet perhaps you can read these 11 examples and you can work on your own. You know better to be prepared, like the boy scouts say "Hope for the best and prepare for the worst."
.
And finally a happy 83rd birthday to author Harper Lee . . . would you believe I've never read her To Kill a Mockingbird? And yes I did in fact graduate from high school. Go figure.
.
That's her for today, until next time.

Happy Earth Day Yo

As far as I know today is Earth Day. If you're anything like me you're going to celebrate by driving to work in a V8 (and no I haven't modified my hippy mobile to run on shitty tasting vegetable cocktail) powered vehicle a distance that can be easily walked in under ten minutes. But hopefully you're a better person than I am. I'm sure local school kids will be out picking garbage (if that's not too dangerous for your precious little snowflakes to do anymore) today which is a good thing because in this town it seems there's a general wide held misconception that throw away coffee cups from Timmy Ho's (which have travelled at least 60 miles from the nearest store to get here, how's that for a carbon foot print?), Robin's Donuts and (gasp) yes even Roy Lane are completely biodegradable and/or provide excellent shelter for the elusive Northwestern Ontario Land Hermit Crab so they tossed where ever the cup is emptied.
.
I guess it could be worse, after all it could be 6 pack yolks.
.
No matter, in honour of the day here's a slide show showing some of Mother Nature's best ideas (our weather as of late is not even close to being on this list) and how the most advanced (and hairless) apes on the planet are doing their best to mimic them for our own profit & gain. The bit about the termite mounds is pretty interesting.
.
And you know when it comes to the environment not everything sounds bad is bad, like until reading this I had no idea that toxic lakes were good things, or at least could be for migraine sufferers.
.
And well you gotta show both sides of the story, maybe, well okay you do when it supports your cause I suppose, but here's an interesting article talking about the downsides of green jobs, like how the cost over 2 jobs somewhere else . . . but as long as that somewhere else isn't your somewhere else, who cares, right?
.
And oh yeah if you've ever fancied a peek at Joss Stone's shiny giny here's your chance. Yeah I know it doesn't have anything to do with Earth Day, but the pics are from Coachella so I'm sure there were a lot of soap dodging granola munchers there.
.
And finally, happy birthday to Bettie Page and Marilyn Chambers . . . think of all self gratification that those two ladies inspired during their careers.
.
Until next time.

I think I overslept . . . until October

First off let me open with "Fuck this weather, fuck it in its stupid ass". I've had enough of this, and we're not flooding out or anything, just 3/4's the way through April still with snow on the ground, and oh yeah some of it's nice and fresh. Ah well maybe a pic of Jenn Aniston topless will chase away the weather related blues.
.
Did you know/realise that today is the 10th anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting rampage? If you're rocking this sweet shirt from T Shirt Hell you probably already knew that though. Oh how time flies, eh? And now this has become part of culture and language.
.
Also if you haven't heard legendary (??) porn star and Ivory Snow box model Marilyn Chambers was found dead at age 56 in her trailer home. More here if you're interested. At one time I had a copy of Behind the Green Door on VHS . . . I don't recall anything about so either I didn't watch it (unlikely) or it wasn't that stand out.
.
And here's some interesting news for the (non-Somali type) pirates (learn the shocking truth about pirates here) out there - the four founders of The Pirate Bay have been sentenced to one year in prison for copyright infringement. You can read more about it here, but don't fret about the Pirate Bay going down, I hear Google is just as good as anything else for searching out the torrents.
.
You know I haven't been too sure about where to go on holiday next, but after seeing this maybe Cyprus is in order?
.
And oh yeah, Happy Birthday Adi and happy 4/20 to my stoner readers out there.

Dear World, I'm sorry

You know, I always figured I was partly responsible, but it looks like I'm even more liable than I had even dared think in the past and now thanks to this article the cats really out of the bag. Thanks for spilling the beans Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Seems that Brazil's president blames blue eyed honkeys for the world's current economic crisis.
.
Again I'm sorry, I'm trying to make things better, but the man, aka Barack Obama is keeping me down.
.
At least you can say I'm not at responsible for this . . . and of course no one in their right mind would think a deer was responsible for it either, would they?
.
Hey, here's an article with a good reason to go back to Oz . . . okay well I guess it's two reasons really . . . big reasons.
.
Speaking of Oz, according to this the Sidney Ritz-Carlton has shut its doors. That might not mean anything to you, but if you're a crazed INXS/Micheal Hutchence fan you're lamenting the fact that you never got to be in the building where the former INXS front man ended his life with a belt on the back of a door. Me I got to ride past in a hearse and look out the windows at it.
.
And just in case you've got an unhealthy attraction to that hot cousin that you get to see every other Christmas, this article might be a good reason to go to Romania. Or France or Spain or Portugal. You know they're right, just because something's immoral doesn't mean it should be illegal . . . but damn.
.
And oh yeah apparently the children of cousins are not only have a greater risk of having multiple heads and tails, but also have a greater risk of catching infectious diseases and playing the banjo on a porch swing.
.
Apparently incest isn't that uncommon in nature, but then again so is eating your young, so let's not sue that as a defence for the fact that you think a family reunion is a great place to score chicks.
.
Well I'm outta here for now.

Things and stuff

I read this article about a couple of deaths that came from someone starting to take apart a construction crane while people were still using it, and it being, well at least partially, blamed on lack of training. You know it's not the lack of training that had this cat taking the bolts holding everything together while it was still in use, it was the over abundance of stupid.
.
Trust me on that one, if you're old enough to turn a wrench and haven't figured out that gravity makes things fall down go boom, fuck you don't even have to know it's gravity, and you haven't figured out that eventually things fall to ground, there's no hope for you.
.
Meh what can you do eh? And all the really stupid people in the world make the rest of us look a whole lot better, don't they?
.
Oh hey are you a fan Jessica Biel (not to be confused with Jennifer Beals)? Are you a fan of Jessica Biel's boobs? Well you're in luck, here you go. She's no Dita Von Teese is she, but to each their own. And well Dita just wanted to be Bettie Page when she grew up . . . not that there's anything wrong with that.
.
Since we're talking boobs, this art project will blow your mind.
.
And moving on . . . if this article is right I'm fucked. Proper fucked. Better wait three weeks until the study showing that high doses of ibuprofen reduces the risk of heart attack. And this one doesn't bode to well either. No well, what can you do eh?
.
After reading this article you can stroke having sex with koalas from that list . . . the dirty STD infected whores.
.
But maybe after reading this you'll be a lot more interested in visiting Oslo than you were before . . . although after checking this out you might want to lay off the drugs a little.
.
And finally here's an unrequested plug for a friend of a friend's tool selling website , go there and buy some shit and maybe if I send enough business their way I'll get me some cool new tools . . . like there's any other kind.
.
PS - Charlie still don't surf.

Been away for a while

But we're back baby yeah. Did you miss us? I'm sure you did, I know I'd miss me terribly if I weren't around me.
.
Where have I been you ask? Well I say you're nosey and want to know if you're a cop or writing a book or something . . . but I guess I can share . . . not last week but the week before I went to spend a week at the Blau Coste Verde resort outside a little town in Cuba called Guardalavaca about an hour's coach ride from Holguin City. Good clean fun for the whole family, if your whole family likes to drink rum and smoke cigars . . . and if they do I might like meeting them. Hey don't get your hopes up I only said might.
.
Last week I toughed out a three day week at work and spent the last two days painting this very room I'm sitting in, and just yesterday I learned that apparently I painted the room a shade of green. No matter what you call the colour it looks good.
.
But hey I'm back now and I'm sure my irregular posting of irregular topics will get back on its erratic schedule . . . at least until the end of the month when I'm out of town for a week for work.
.
Speaking of irregular topics - how about this one from the it could happen to anyone files; check out this article about a security in the UK who was found dead from an autoerotic asphyxiation accident in the men's bathroom at his work wearing Wellington boots, a wetsuit and gas mask. See like I said it could happen to anyone.
.
Now I'm afraid I have to hit you up with a little bit bad news if you're a fan of bad taste like I am and you must be since you keep visiting here; the fine online emporium of bad taste t-shirts known as T Shirt Hell is going out of business on Tuesday, Feb 10, 2009 . . . upside is everything is on sale and must go go go. For a message from the company's creator, Sunshine Megatron, go here. To view their final new shirts, plus 14 classics they are bringing back as a thank you to everyone (including some of the best of their old Worse Than Hell section), go here.
.
I've been meaning to order a shirt from them for a long time now, and just haven't so maybe this is the kick in the ass that I need to go out and get it done and own my very own piece of history.
.
A little more on the current events bit, anyone watch GSP totally dominate BJ Penn Saturday night? The UFC card this weekend was pretty good from start to finish and I'm looking forward to their next PPV.
.
And how about that Superbowl? Big ups to the Steelers for winning it, it's what I expected but I was still pulling for the Cards and it was a game that was worth watching right up until the end, or at least I thought it was.
.
And something a little closer to home, seems that Mr. Richard Brozinski, allegedly aka Richer Lapointe, has generated a whole lot of traffic here for me, so thanks for that. Anyone have any more news or information on this? I ask because I'm a little curious and this bloke opennova@sasktel.net left a comment here asking for some local information on Mr. Brozinski to help build a case against him in Winnipeg, all I know I've said but if you want to help out please do. You can go and read the comment for yourself if you're interested in getting the whole of it.
.
Did you know that it was 30 years ago today that legendary Sex Pistols bass player Sid Viscious died in his sleep of a heroin overdose . . . this was all while waiting to stand trail for stabbing his girlfriend Nancy Spungen to death. Now that's punk rock.
.
That's it for now - until next time.

Act Now . . . they're going fast!

Yep things are changing, disappearing and becoming defunct at an alarm rate . . . some good (remember smoking in airplanes?) some bad and some just meh (rotary dial phone anyone?). But someone has taken the time to compile some of histories rarest of the rare. There's some pretty neat stuff there and if you've got any lying around, and a ping pong table, I'm totally coming over to hang out way more often.
.
Like I said things are disappearing and here's a list of companies that are thought to disappear this calendar year. I'm sure there are earth shattering ramifications to each of these going under, but I don't know that I'll miss them, I mean it's not like I drive my Chrysler to Pier 1 while talking on a Nortel phone . . . much.
.
As for Chrysler going tits up, it won't be the first car maker to do it, don't believe check out this list ask yourself where the AMC, Packard & DeSoto dealers are now.
.
But maybe you like to see disappearance on a larger scale, if so check out this extinction timeline showing history from 1950 and predictions up to 2050 . . . go check it for yourself, I don't want to spoil the ending.
.
Another thing to fall to the wayside seems to be the mustache which is too bad because all know how important facial hair is (hmmmm maybe I need one of these?), but have no fear Spike has collected what they think are history's most important mustaches. A good collection I think, but history most important? Probably not, I mean Lanny MacDonald wasn't even on the list. Now that was a quality 'stache, and really a Canadian, or at least Western Canadian Icon. Don't believe me? Check it for yourself.
.
Speaking of Canadian Iconery how about that one burning thing that unites Canadians from coast to coast, hating Toronto, and now you can enjoy it movie style, with the tongue in cheek mockumentary "Let's All Hate Toronto" no doubt made by Torontonians . . . isn't it ironic, donchathink?
.
And Katy Perry wore a green bikini, and I liked it.
.
And that's her. Until next time.

Jump in bed and cover your head . . .

.
Just in case you're one of the Lucas fanboys (speaking of Fanboys, just when is that movie acutally going to be released?) who's still under the general disillusion that George makes quality entertainment and cares about anything other than making that money money yeah yeah here's an article that will set you straight, break your heart and/or cause you to wax philosophical about the Star Wars Holiday Special. Anyway it looks like a stage production of Star Wars is going to be going into production and will be premiering next year at London's O2 Arena.
.
.
That's enough Lucas slagging don't you think? In order to bring things back up how's about listening to Tucson's Hot Club band rock the Cantina Song from Star Wars?
.
And for a bit of Star Wars history, how about checking out some of the early storyboards for the 1st film/episode four from long long ago in a studio far far away back before the Millennium Falcon was cool looking. Pretty cool eh? I'm not totally gay for Star Wars like some I know but I have to admit it's pretty cool getting such a behind the scenes peek at a bit of geek history.
.
Ever notice how the best solutions to a problem are the simplest? Well this is fucking brilliant; seems that teens in Montgomery County have found a sweet way to exact revenge on people and screw with speed cameras at the same time.
.
Step 1 - borrow a car similar to the one driven the person you want to screw over.
.
Step 2 - print out a fake plate that matches that of the person you want to screw over and tape it over the plate on your car.
.
Step 3 - run the speed camera.
.
Step 4 - enjoy the fruits of your labour.
.
I told you simple and brilliant. I don't know someone didn't come up with this before.
.
Well that's her for now, but I will leave you with one last bit. I don't know about you, but if this were a TV show I'd watch it.
.
And oh yeah, have a merry fucking Christmas.

Friday, December 19, 2008

I'll tell you who I am . . .

. . . I'm a Repo Man.
.
Here's some good news for the punkers/fans of cult films; according to this article a Repo Man sequel is going to start filming next month. Could this be another classic destroyed before our very eyes? Only time will tell.
.
Speaking of classics, remember the Macho Man Randy Savage? Of course you do, or perhaps I should have said "ooooooooooooooooooooh yeah!". Ever wonder what he's up to these days? Well I can't answer that question, but I can say that here's a current pic of Savage, or at least it's supposed to be him. For all I know it could be an old washed country music star.
.
I think that after seeing these pics, Sweden might a great place to go out on the town in and watch beautiful women from across the bar and not talk to them. Maybe I can go there after I have my fill of beer, brats and girls kissing girls at Oktoberfest.
,
Although after reading this article about nine British women who were charged with prostitution after being arrested for taking part in an oral sex competition (I guess they were charging admission?), I just may have to hit up the Greek holiday island of Zakynthos.
.
But I'm thinking that maybe Greece isn't the place to be after seeing these pictures of the riots that broke out there as a result of police shooting a teen. There's some quality, albeit shocking, photography in there and once again I have a new appreciation for the safety and even keelness of living where I do, even if it is -33 Celsius outside right now . . . but what would you do if you went outside in December and the snot in your nose didn't freeze with your first inhalation of breath?
.
And today I'll leave you with a new twist on a holiday classic, The ASBO Before Christmas, brought to you by the man who wrote the book The ASBO Fairy Tales.

Monday, December 08, 2008

On the first day of Giftmas my true love gave to me . . .

Well 'tis the season or close to it anyway, so let's get the giftmas flowing with some guy's collection of the top Christmas inspired music videos. I can say there are some real winners in that collections but I for one honestly cannot believe that The Fairytale of New York was left off that list - or hell any list of Christmas songs - I mean it's almost enough to make you want to go out and start a dysfunctional relationship with someone just so you can fight with each other like that. Only I hope your mental/special someone has a nicer smile than Shane MacGowan does.
.
Although it's another one that I do enjoy I'm not as surprised that it didn't make that list, but it easily could have, Bob & Doug MacKenzie's (who are coming back to TV in cartoon form) 12 Days of Christmas. I mean who doesn't want five golden tuques and 7 packs of smokes?
.
While we're rocking the 12 Days of Christmas, how's about taking a look at Twisted Sister's version of it, The Heavy Metal Christmas. In fact Twisted Sister released an entire Christmas record a couple years ago aptly called Twisted Christmas with twisted versions of other Christmas classics like Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Come All Ye Faithful.
.
Where's Tipper Gore & the PMRC now?
.
And since I've already started to metal up your Christmas record collection how's about taking a look at Monster Ballad Xmas which I'm sure you've figured out now consists of hair metal bands doing Christmas songs, like Skid Row doing Jingle Bells, Dokken rocking Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Tom Keifer, from Cinderella, having a Blue Christmas.
.
And one last holiday song for today - forget about Sandler's Hanukkah Song because here's one for all your non-believing friends out there, The Atheism Song.
.
I know I kinda missed the boat (pun entirely intended) on this one, but here's a bit of a great online graphic novel telling the story of the first Thanksgiving, The First Thanksgiving: An Almost Graphic Representation. Trust me it's worth the read, it made me laugh, but then again I'm a bad person.
.
And from the bad news front, looks like everyone's favourite classic pinup girl, Ms Bettie Page, is critically ill after having a heart attack. I guess no matter how big a cult following you may or may not have sooner or later you will dance with the Reaper. Here's to speedy recovery. Here's Bettie in action from 1950 or maybe you prefer Bettie's pinup work? Or her bondage photos?
.
Well that's her for now, but I will leave you with a list of the 11 Lamest Blogs on the Net, thankfully this one didn't make the list this time . . . hows about your's?
.
That's it for today, now take off, eh.

What a big day in history

Seems that today is the 38th anniversary of rockabilly superstar Jerry Lee Lewis divorcing his cousin and third wife, who was all of 13 years old when they were married, Myra Gail Brown after 12 years of wedded bliss. To make things even more interesting he was still married to his 2nd wife Jane Mitchum when he tied the knot with Myra.
.
Hillbilly much?
.
Today is also the 30th anniversary of the Jonestown Massacre in Guyana, where cult leader Jim Jones had his followers in the People's Temple drink cyanide laced kool aid to commit mass suicide in the South American sun.
.
From the horrors of history to a train wreck of an interview here we go kids, hold on. Check out this sweet Jean Claude Van Damme interview, it's not long but totally worth the read. Whodda guessed that JCVD was such a smooth operator?
.
Sorry it's short but I gotta run. Later.
.
PS - I still want this, have you put a bid in for me yet?

Happy Birthday Jerry Lee

It seems that on this very day way back in 1976 Jerry Lee Lewis opened up a couple great balls of fire on his then bass player Norman Owens while trying open a pop can with a .357 magnum. Mr. Owens survived and went on to sue Jerry Lee over the incident . . . but this just makes me think, I had some really lame party games at my birthdays.
.
Oh well I guess if you're the kinda guy who'd marry a 13 year old cousin behind your family's back you're really going to know how to tear it up. Unlike anyone who signs on for the course being offered in Jedi studies by a UK university. You can read a bit about it here, but just remember no matter what you do don't drunkenly leap over a fence proclaiming yourself Darth Vader and start to beat on the Jedis in training with a broomstick. Just ask this guy.
.
Although another word to the wise, if you're a grown man and going to start a Jedi Church and have lightsabre battles in your backyard, be prepared for attacks from the Empire (and no I don't mean Starbucks or Wal Mart this time) and just suck it up when you do. A lump on the head and bruised leg seem like small potatoes in the grand scheme of things, and come on you were asking it for it.
.
Since I mentioned evil empires up there we may have to add IKEA to the that list as well, seems that Israel has some how disappeared from maps sold by IKEA in Abu Dhabi, or at least that's what I read here and why would they lie. Oh those crazy Arabs.
.
Well I think it's time for something decidedly less serious - how about a comprehensive list of 15 reasons why Canada is better than your country . . . unless of course your country is Canada, in which case we've just created a vicious circular reference that may lead to the end of the world as we know it.
.
And while we're talking about the greatest of Canada, how's a $12, 000.00 speeding ticket from Alberta. When I first read this article about an Albertan speeding on a motorcycle my first thought was "Wow his insurance is going through the roof".
.
Honestly, how lame a reaction is that?
.
Then I thought, must be a crotch rocket . . . then I thought that's a little higher (3 km/h) than the top speed of my car - not that I've reached those speeds . . . but I can say there was a time when I said to myself "Self you're never going to drive that fast again" - and in case you're curious it may have been faster than the guy in the Chevy Cobalt mentioned at the end of that article.
.
You've likely heard about already, but legendary actor Paul Newman recently died, here's an early article about the man and his death. It's too bad Mr. Newman is gone, but his films and popcorn and salad sauce live on.
.
And in honour of Episode 1 of Season 3 of Heroes tonight, here's some pics of Hayden Panettiere popping out of her bikini a little on her birthday. Talk about happy birthday to you. Enjoy.
.
That's her for now . . . takin' it off here boss.

Got title?

Today marks the 46th anniversary of the death/suicide/murder of everyone's favourite brown eyed brunette, Miss Norma Jeane Mortensen, or Baker, aka Marilyn Monroe. No matter which it was she took some great photos . . . I'm not a huge Marilyn mark myself, but I know plenty are.
.
While we're talking about celebs, or at least a celeb, how about checking out some photos by Alison Jackson, who uses look-a-likes or photoshop to get, or should that be make, pictures of celebs in their private lives. Check out a sampling here and here . . . I still can't believe that Liz pees.
.
I don't know why this couldn't have happened when I was in Oz, but it seems that after these photos, some topless, of Jessica Origliasso of the Aussie pop band the Veronicas surfaced online fans protest/lend support with their own topless photos . . . but you'll have to find those for yourself. Now that's what you call fan support . . . I mean you don't hear about Billy Joel fans posting pics of their drunken car crashes online to protest The Piano Man's being shown to the world. Lord love the logic of a teen girl's mind.
.
You can read a bit about the whole kerfuffle here if you're interested, but now that you've already seen the boobie pic I'm sure you're well enough pleased.
.
Since you already brought up Aussie pop stars, how's about we cover 40 years of Kylie Minogue in 35 photos (WTF - Kylie's 40?).
.
I think we need to combat all the pop shmaltz we've had going on so far today with something with a higher concentration of awesome . . . like this video of The Muppet Show Band covering Rammstein's Engel, with special guest appearance by Debbie Harry.
.
Since pretty much everything's had a musical flair to it today I'm going to sign off with a sweet little video with a couple whities rapping about their favourite of all lady parts, the FUPA.
.
Laterz.

I Want My MTV

Can you believe that it was 27 years ago today, way back in 1981 that MTV first hit the airwaves, first playing the Buggles Video Killed the Radio Star (just ask Christopher Cross how true that statement is/was/are/am) followed immediately by Pat Benatar's You'd Better Run.
.
Make your own crack about how MTV, and similarly Much Music, used to play videos, hee hee ho ho. That's original shit there. Speaking of Much Music, what ever happened to Erica Ehm? I'm sure I bring that up every time I mention Much Music, but anyone got an answer for me? Oh I guess this is what she's doing, thanks Google, you rarely let me down.
.
Well we're kinda talking music so how about some good news, bad news from the world of rock . . . first the bad news. According to this interview with Tom Araya Slayer is under contract for one more album, and it may be their last for fear of becoming what Ozzy has. Big ups for getting out on top, but boo-urns to the possibility of only one more new Slayer record . . . and their last record was top shelf Slayer as far as I'm concerned and I saw them play the MTS Centre a couple summers ago and they were fantastic on stage. No encore though, but I think there's some sort of rule about not playing past 11:00 in that arena because I haven't been to a show there yet that went much past 11:00.
.
Now for the good news, according to this Megadeth are getting ready and/or getting a studio ready to record a new record and after seeing them in Winnipeg this spring, read about the experience here, and thinking that their latest record was as good as anything they ever did I'm as hap-hap-happy, as metal fan is allowed to be under international metal conventions, can be.
.
Well it looks like I didn't hit the nerd prom again, but here's a close 2nd, how's about a nice slideshow of some of the costumes from the convention floor, opening with a nice shot showing why they call her Mrs. Inredible.
.
And where can I find a bird who dresses like this? The one on the right wisenheimer. Oh well at least I'm not the only one with an unhealthy attraction to animated ladies. You know you've got a problem if you thought he left out Batgirl, Catwoman and Supergirl.
.
Back to the SDCC check out this slide show of some of the great things revealed at this year's event.
.
Sadly I've got to link a little more serious news here, have you read about the Manitoba Greyhound Murder? Truly grizzly horror movie stuff to be sure, hard to believe that something like that could happen in real life. One has to wonder why something like that could have happened . . . I mean surely there's no good reason for it, but aren't just the least bit curious to know what was going through that guy's head just before he decided it was time stab the guy behind 50 some times and remove his head from his shoulders?
.
One more reason to take the train, eh?
.
And remember if you're in Toronto, tonight, Zerg, Bovine, be there.
