Come in and burn

As if there's any other kind but check out this great interview with the aging alternative icon himself, none other than Henry Rollins where he talks about many things, among them why we'll never see a Black Flag reunion, which is one of them good and bad all at the same time things, if you ask me . . . and I know you didn't but you're here so you must want to know what I think.
.
Right?
.
Well we've had an early spring here, and according to the Weather Network it's not going to last, but I'll take it, most of the snow is melted out of my yard, we had temperatures in the double digits on the weekend and I was out on my bike both days. Not too bad for mid-March in Sunset Country, eh?
.
The warm weather will mean the animals will start coming out of the bush again, so maybe you're in the market for a new set of bull bars for your truck. If so have a look at the offerings from Herd Integrated Vehicle Protection. If you put some spikes on them they'd look just like something straight out of Mad Max (and brother I don't mean Thunderdome) and don't forget to check out the product testimonials.
.
.
PS - Happy Birthday Mr. Erik Estrada

It's Battlestar Galactic-touge

If you're cool, and I know you are because you're here, you're into The Beastie Boys and Battlestar Galactica, and brothers and sisters let me tell you, you're in luck because right here is the finest (okay only but it's still pretty bad ass) mash up of the B-Boys Sabotage with footage from BSG, complete with the original video and a sweet side by side comparison of the original and the mash up.
.
As the French say "C'est tres sweet.".
.
Now it's no secret that I like me some tea, and I'm thinking that with commercials and a mascot like this PG Tips has to be one fine cuppa, don't you agree?
.
And well this is just a completely different sort of monkey, but I really think he should be sporting a smoking jacket and fez, but that's me.
.
And while we're rocking some sweet monkey action, how's about what might be the finest episode of Monkey News from The Ricky Gervais Show ever.
.
All monkeyed out? Yeah me either, but let's move onto something else for a minute or two shall we?
.
So cool. So much awesome. So much win. It's epic.
.
And lastly in honour of the 30th anniversary of John Wayne Gacy's conviction for the murder of 33 men and boys here's an evil clown generator. Use at your own risk.
.
Until next blog.

Bye Bye Miss American Pie

If you didn't know today is the 51st anniversary of The Day the Music Died. And yes Virginia it's more than a Meat Loaf (personally I prefer meatloaf but that's me) tune long Don McLean (not one half of MacLean & MacLean apparently) song (and a second rate Madonna cover), it's when a small plane carrying The Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly (the man who would have been the real King of Rock and Roll IMHO) crashed outside Mason City, Iowa, while en route to a show in Fargo, North Dakota.

More great news if you're still a fan of off the wall Canuck sketch-com, The Kids in the Hall have reunited to do an 8 episode mini-series called Death Comes to Town that will be airing on the CBC. The gist of the series is Death gets off the Greyhound in a small town and everyone in town becomes a suspect when the Mayor ends up dead. You can check out the trailer for the show here if you're interested and I know you are.
.
Looks pretty damned funny don't it?
.
This isn't quite local, but close enough and it might just be the strangest Google Winnipeg Street View ever (if you have a stranger one let me know about it) . . . I just want to know, do the people getting into the truck know about the guy lying in the bed?
.
Finally thanks to the fine folks over at Explore Music we now know who to blame for the fame and popularity of Nickelback, New Brunswick. Get behind a new band would you, you bastards. At first the popularity of Nickelback gave me some hope for the resurgence of guitar/bar rock (which trust me would be a good thing), but sadly know all it's given us is a Nickelback clones, which is super great if you happen to live in New Brunswick I suppose.
.
While we're talking music, how's about a nice video of fans being interviewed in an arena parking lot before a Slayer/Marilyn Manson show in Cali that makes me proud to be a metalhead. Oh and trust me, that guy's mum is a whore. And the parking lot before a metal is a lot like that, even when it's really really cold out.
.
You may have already seen this video already, but it's pretty awesome and I've got to share, it's the Muppets doing a video for Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. It's pretty awesome . . . but I'm a little biased after all I am fan of Queen & the Muppets.
.
And I'll sign off with a more holiday appropriate video of the Muppets again but this time rocking The Carol of the Bells. It's not quite the Trans Siberian Orchestra's version (or Peter Griffin's for that matter), but pretty cool none the less eh?
.
Until next time.

Been Neglectful

Yeah it's been a while, but so it goes . . . after all you do get what you pay for don't you?
.
So what's new? Lots probably, but the only thing to pops to mind is that I got a new set of eyeglasses delivered to my door for $27 from these guys here. That's big news. Otherwise I've just had things that I'd rather in the real world than spend time here. But I'm back . . . for today anyway.
.
So did you hear that Greyhound will be cutting bus service (make your own jokes about beheadings on the bus) in Northwestern Ontario & Manitoba? Yep apparently they are and they're blaming the government for it saying that they're losing too much money operating the rural routes that the government is making them run. True I don't know,
.
Anyway you can read more about it here or the official announcement here if you're interested.
.
If you're into metal you're bound to think that the potential concert tour that Kerry King mentions in this article would be a full on metal onslaught. I think I'd buy a ticket for that show, and I've seen all those bands at least once in the past.
.
It's not metal, pretty it's damned rock and roll - check out this article about a British guy who just got in his car one day and started driving around the world. There's something very appealing about an adventure like that, but I suppose it's not for everyone. But we do have one thing in common, I too enjoy pleasing myself day after day.
.
Finally . . . an answer to how to dispose 1000 fake dog testicles.
.
Well that's her for now, until next time . . . whenever that might be.

Is Going to Blame it on the Train

Yeah I'm back with another short but sweet one.
.
Maybe you're in the market for a 2010 Camaro, and if you are you might want to have a look at the 68 point dealer delivery checklist, you know so you can give the car a good once over with the common problems they're having with this car, like broken transmission output shafts. Although since that same tranny is used in several other sports cars it's more likely a bad batch of transmissions than a problem with that transmission as a whole.
.
I still love my Camaro, but the 2010 has mine beat hands down power and performance wise. But I guess that's the difference between three and four hundred horsepower eh?
.
Now let's shift gears from awesome cars to awesome actors, and how can you get more awesome than Mickey Rourke? I mean this is the man who told Iron Man 2 Director Jon Favreau that he wanted his character in the film to get drunk and argue with his pet parrot, or at least according to this he did. Told you he was awesome, but wait it gets better.
.
Seems that recently while partying in London he ended up with a statue of Christ (and who hasn't?) and punching the shit out of a traffic barrier (and who hasn't wanted to?). Good times, good times. But it gets better, check out the top 7 awesome things that you didn't know about Mickey.
.
And now this is a must share bit of movie news, even if it doesn't involve Mr. Rourke, but here's the trailer for Tim Burton's production of Alice in Wonderland starring none other than Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. I'm looking forward to this film, Burton & Depp are great at what they do and when they do it together it's even better and the Alice in Wonderland stories are great, even if they were written by a man with an unhealthy attraction to little girls for a little girl. But that being said, do read the books.
.
And I will sign off today with what just might be the best power ballad EVAR.
.
Until next time.

What's the best part of a long weekend?

The short week that follows.
.
Yeah so I made it through the Easter weekend, which I'm lucky enough to have four days off for, how'd you fair? It might be a little late, but here's an interesting list of ten things you didn't know about Easter from Time. But where's Eostre?
.
In keeping with the season, here's a list of 7 things from pop culture that apparently piss Jesus off. And no I don't think they mean that dude from Old Mexico who takes care of your lawn.
.
Keeping with the religious theme, dare you look into the flaming pit of hell? It's horrible and not appropriate for work. But don't say I didn't warn you.
.
Now I just have to wonder, where do you get that done, and how do you start that conversation with the guy on the other side of the counter?
.
If you still watch Saturday Night Live you might have already seen this sketch the other weekend, but if you are still watching SNL, I have to ask is it worth it? Before Tina Fey left if I was watching I'd flip over to NBC around 11 (that's central time) knowing that weekend update was going to be on shortly after that, then stop watching after that. After Tina Fey left, I stopped watching . . . but then funny thing, I've never watched a single episode of her new show 30 Rock. Go figure.
.
You know I think it's true, cats don't care.
.
Thanks to this sweet gear now any kid can blow up the Death Star. Combine that stuff with your Taun Taun sleeping bag and you'll the coolest kid camping out on the sidewalk waiting to get into the next Star Wars Celebration (that's celebration, not convention, apparently they're touchy about that shit) to hear Billy Dee Williams ramble aimlessly/incoherently about waist versus full length capes and whether or not Colt 45 really works every time. Well okay maybe not the coolest kid, but you'll be cooler than these people, that I can promise.
.
Maybe you'd be better off with this Death Star on your camp out, if times get tough you can always eat it before feasting on the tender well marbled flesh of your compatriots.
.
You know, I'm a fan of concerts, I loves me some live music . . . I have to say that one thing I've never done is crowd surf, doubt I ever will, but I've pass people along and thrown people up on top of the crowd, but I don't know if any of those experiences top these. I don't know about you, but this one is a personal favourite.
.
And I will sign off today with something that does my heart good to see. Enjoy.
.
Until next time.

Were you an April Fool?

I think I made it through unscathed, although you might think that meeting about there being a new employment policy at work yesterday going into effect that day, but that there weren't copies available for us at the moment, could have been an April Fool's prank . . . but it wasn't. That's just how it is.
.
Breaking news! Santa was arrested. For what I don't know, but here's the mugshot.
.
It's no secret I love cover tunes, I'm telling you that all the time, well a Ukrainian band took Katy Perry's Hot N Cold and turned it into this, which is pure unadulterated win in my humble opinion.
.
This one was too good not to share, and it'll make you think twice before you take a bologna sammich from anyone who's giggling even a little.
.
Speaking of bologna, did you know that apparently lobster is the new bologna? Yeah sure pull on the other one, it's got bells. I'll believe that when I can get a pound of lobster in the deli for under $2.
.
There's no mention of how to get the cock out of your bologna sammich, but here's a cool collection of the top 25 food hacks (that's what they're calling them). Here's one for the Survivorman.
.
And here's some good news for people in TO - street meat there is going to be getting a whole lot better, or at least wider in variety, downside is you'll have to be in Toronto . . . and believe you me a kebab on the way home from the boozer is fantastic . . . and don't be cheap with the garlic in mine thanks. Oh and meat pies for breakfast . . . to die for. Beef & cheese pie from a bakery on a street that leads to the beach at 7 in the morning in Byron Bay was easily the best pie I've ever had ever.
.
And this one is for the Willow (who's been sending some regular traffic my way as of late, thanks for that, it's probably due to Where the Wild Things Are and not because her readership is changing to sci-fi reading, cartoon watching, car loving, action figure collecting, pin-up obsessed geeks, but maybe?) . . . or maybe it's this one . . . I can't remember. Oh perhaps you were expecting this instead?
.
And that's her for today, if anyone sees Mother Nature, give that old biddy a swift boot in the box for me. Trust me she deserves it.

I'll get you next time Gadget, next time . . .

Well if you're anything like me, and if you have any hopes of being awesome it'd be in your best interest to be, you have spent and still spend a good chunk of your television viewing on cartoons. If you animate, I'll try to watch it . . . anyway remember Inspector Gadget? And no I don't mean the film with Matthew Broderick or the really crummy sequel with that squinty guy from 3rd Rock from the Sun, the animated TV series with the Inspector voiced by Don Adams of Get Smart fame.
.
Anyway back to the matter at hand I'm sure you recall how in the cartoon you never saw Dr. Claw's face, only his claw and the back of his chair . . . and if you were anything like me you always figured there was some episode of the show that showed his face and you just never caught it. Well that might still be the case, but I doubt it so stop wasting your time watching the reruns and read on fair reader read on . . . seems that in the early 90's a toy company released a Dr. Claw action figure, that after you opened the package revealed his face. Wait wait wait, don't go scouring eBay for it just yet, you can check it out here if you're interested.
.
So now that you've had a look at it, is it just me or the picture of Dr. Claw you had in your head completely different from the action figure? Big ups for packaging the action figure with MAD Cat though.
.
Read more of about the face of Claw here . . . guess I'm not the first geek with an Internet connection to be let down by this revelation.
.
No matter, but that does segue nicely into Cracked's list of 7 Badass Cartoon Villains who Lost to Retarded Heroes doesn't it?
.
Is it just me or is this the coolest business card ever? Yeah you want some now too, don't you?
.
And now for something a little different, how about Kermit the Frog singing NIN's Hurt/spoofing Cash's video for the song? Pretty cool eh? If you know the guy who posted that particular video whack him with a stick for me not realising that Cash covered the tune, albeit his version is way better than Trent Reznor's original in my humble opinion. Watching Cash's video, it's just so much more powerful . . . or maybe I'm just a soppy git.
.
And while we're rocking the amphibian vibe, how's about Kermit covering Radiohead's Creep. God I loves me a good cover tune.
.
And finally, I'd like for you to read this article and tell me that my fear of horses is unfounded.

One more time

Yeah been slacking about putting stuff up here again . . . I guess I've been busier more important things? Yeah I hate to say it, but sometimes it happens. No matter I'm back here today, and after all it's quality, not quantity, right? So let's have at it . . . since it is March Break and I'm not heading down to South Padre Island or anything like that.
.
This video came highly recommended, and all I have to say is what is that kid on and where can I get some?
.
I'm sure I've mentioned here before that the film Hellraiser is being redone, and this time with input from Clive Barker, the man who wrote the novella that the film was based on. So hopefully it will have more of the original story in it than what the first film did, although that movie was pretty cool, which probably had a lot to do with Doug Bradley's portrayal of Pinhead.
.
Speaking of here's a first look at the new Pinhead for the new film . . . different but the similar. I won't pass judgement until I see it in context.
.
From the current quasi-celebrity news file, or obits page I guess, former WWe wrestler Test aka Andrew Martin died just recently, you can read more about it here, but there isn't much info out there yet. But let's see . . . pro wrestler, early 30's, dead in apartment . . . I'm going with the classic heart attack from steroid and coke use that is oh so prevalent amongst his profession.
.
One of the better parts of a great book was when Roddy Piper made dedicated the book to all the guys he used to work with who weren't there anymore, and listed them and there was a lot, maybe more than you'd think. You'd think these guys would figure this shit out, but I guess the ride is good enough that you don't complain about it being short.
.
In music news infamous Norwegian Black Metal icon, former Burzum front man and church burner Varg Vikernes is being released from prison after serving his term for the murder of Mayhem guitarist Øystein Aarseth aka Euronymous. If you're interested you can read more about it here. Several years ago I met someone who had spoken with Varg on the phone from prison and what should come as no surprise is that he's very charismatic. Welcome back to society Varg, try to be good this go around, eh?
.
If you'd like to learn more about the Black Metal scene I'd recommend you read Lords of Chaos, it's a really good read, a little grim at times, but worthwhile.
.
And I'll sign off with another must see movie, Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead. Take a look at that title and the website and tell me it's not screaming win.
.
And now for some real news . . . check out this article and this one with photos of a suicide bomb blast going off in Sri Lanka outside a mosque while people were celebrating Mawlid, the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed. Be warned the pictures although they are frames from a video are pretty grim, and I don't mean the caught the aftermath of the explosion, they got the bomb going off.
.
So was it worth the wait? It better have been. Until next time.

More Great News Everyone . . .

According to this article Faith No More is (almost) reuniting (read the band's official statement), less guitarist Big Sick Jim, for some shows in Europe this summer. FNM is one of the bands that I've always wanted to see but never had the chance to . . . and since I only won my $20 back in the Millionaire Life draw on the weekend I won't be able to jet on over to see them this go around either. No worries, being filthy rich would have changed me anyway . . . step up from taxi cabs and crack whores to limousines and super models.
.
For something a little on the local, okay regional, side; if you're from Northwestern Ontario you've no doubt heard the expression Nipigon Nylons in reference to your wool socks, well seems that some inspired entrepreneurs have gone out and got themselves a trademark for the phrase and no doubt have a three step plan to getting rich. I'm just not sure what step two is.
.
Step One - Get Trademark
.
Step Two - ?
.
Step Three - Profit
.
You can read more about it here if you're interested.
.
So last night for whatever reason while Sportscentre was flipped to after not watching RAW TSN's Jennifer Hedger came up in conversation, likely because she was on the TV in front of us, one thought that she was on a sex talk show, and for some reason I thought that she had been naked in a movie or TV show. I couldn't find her naked, but here's a vid of her making out with another girl on The Lofters. Not the best girl on girl kiss I've seen, but kudos for trying.
.
Mmmmmmmm . . . girls kissing girls.
.
I'm almost a year late to sign on, but doesn't this look like a great trip? Sure beats the hell of the Front Street Pub Crawl, involving drinks at three establishments and a tubesteak on the way home. BTW the Tavern (to the people using Trip Advisor, please note it is not the #1 restaurant in town, you want somewhere to eat here ask me I'll point you in a direction) is open for business again, so let's hope the rest of the building doesn't decide to topple over on us.
.
And finally check out this sweet recap of the original Star Wars trilogy by a girl who claims to have never seen the movies . . . and you know what she doesn't do a half bad job.

Remember Music Videos?

Remember Video Hits? Remember Sam Taylor?
.
Why do I ask? I don't know, I've just been watching some videos on Youtube thinking of a time when I could actually waste time watching videos on TV, Pepsi Power Hour anyone? How about its younger cousin Loud?
.
Anyway it all started with the Butthole Surfers video for Who Was in my Room Last Night- then I checked out Ministry's Jesus Built My Hotrod. The for some reason I thought to check out STP's Sex Type Thing, then I thought to check out Megadeth's Sweating Bullets (why because the first time I heard STP play was when they opened for Megadeth at the Winnipeg Convention Centre in the mid 90's on the Symphony of Destruction Tour - Scott Weilland was rocking the bullhorn on stage and invited everyone to go out partying with them afterward . . . but I can't remember what bar he said, and not because I got so fucked up, I was I dunno 16 at the time).
.
Megadeth had me thinking Metallica (my first concert ever at the old Winnipeg Arena) so I cruised to check out their video for Whiskey in the Jar . . . I know it's not classic Metallica, but it's a great song and the video's awesome innit?
.
Then it was onto Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast - it's a great song off a great record but the video is more than a little weak. Then it was onto another of British Metal greats, Judas Priest's Breaking the Law which will forever make me think of Beavis & Butthead and setting my own personal land speed record.
.
From Priest to Sabbath and Iron Man and from there it was an easy step Ozzy's Crazy Train even if I couldn't find the video clip I wanted.
.
Oh well so it goes . . . well gotta get going maybe I'll add more later, maybe I won't. Until next time.

Killing time . . .

.
Here's a video I found to be more than a little amusing, but then again I'm a bit of a geek, anyway if you too want to watch an extremely well edited video pitting Star Trek versus Star Wars click here. If not, why are you here anyway?
.
It's no big secret that I'm a fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series of novels, but sadly Mr. Pratchett has been diagnosed with a form a Alzheimer's Disease and I say sad because that will mean an end to my beloved Discworld. But so it goes, anyway here's a good interview/article with Pratchett about what's what and the disease how things are going.
.
Here's great news for fans of movies and getting hammered; according to this article two Cineplexes in Toronto are going to start serving alcohol. So no more having to sneak booze into the theatre . . . although at the rate that theatres jack up the cost of stuff at their concession stands a $15 rum and coke just might be enough to keep you refilling that flask . . . although I did pay $10 for an Irish Coffee at the hotel I stayed at last in Niagara Falls.
.
No well, how's about a little giggity then? These pictures here of a woman dressed up as Harley Quinn are absolutely no help for my attraction to comic book girls.
.
And today I'll leave you with Jingle Hells Bells. It's every bit as good as it sounds. I'm outta here, and I'm locking lasers on you.

What a big day in history

Seems that today is the 38th anniversary of rockabilly superstar Jerry Lee Lewis divorcing his cousin and third wife, who was all of 13 years old when they were married, Myra Gail Brown after 12 years of wedded bliss. To make things even more interesting he was still married to his 2nd wife Jane Mitchum when he tied the knot with Myra.
.
Hillbilly much?
.
Today is also the 30th anniversary of the Jonestown Massacre in Guyana, where cult leader Jim Jones had his followers in the People's Temple drink cyanide laced kool aid to commit mass suicide in the South American sun.
.
From the horrors of history to a train wreck of an interview here we go kids, hold on. Check out this sweet Jean Claude Van Damme interview, it's not long but totally worth the read. Whodda guessed that JCVD was such a smooth operator?
.
Sorry it's short but I gotta run. Later.
.
PS - I still want this, have you put a bid in for me yet?

Monday, November 17, 2008

And in the beginning . . .

I haven't read it, but The Clash have released a book, all written in their own words, detailing how the band started out and how they got together simply title The Clash. You can read a bit about the book and some passages from the book here. I'd like to give this one a read, so if you do get this book lemme borrow it when you're done with it, would you?
.
Thanks.
.
Wanna see something cool? Of course, we all do. Well how about a mummified 12 year old McDonald's hamburger that looks as appealing (or appalling, depending on the person) on the day it was hatched under Ronald McDonald's vengeful gaze. When have to wonder how this burger can do so well and last so long in the wild, when they stay inside me for such very short periods of time? One of the mysteries of modern science I suppose.
.
While we're talking fast food, how's about a side by side comparison of the food from the ads compared to the stuff you get in the restaurant. We all know from personal experience that things just don't match up from the ads and in real life, but it is interesting to actually see it right in front of your eyes like that. I mean it's not often I'm lucky enough to be jamming an A&W Uncle Burger down my pie hole while watching the TV ad for it.
.
BTW - I found the Uncle Burger a little disappointing, it was missing something taste wise, but that's just my opinion. Great name for a sandwich though and the mascot has a sweet little 'stache. Almost expect that the Uncle in the burger family is still single and shows up to family BBQ's in a gold TA, pinches Mama's bottom, drinks all Papa's beer, makes the kids more than a little uncomfortable and don't even get me started on how Grandpa feels about it all.
.
Or maybe I'm just projecting.
.
And now for something completely different; ever shop at American Apparel? Yeah me either, seems that most of the clothing buys lately are coming from Mark's Work Wearhouse, but I have to say that American Apparel's ads are pretty interesting, someone has compiled 30 of their favourite, which happen to be their porniest, here. I'm sure their catalog's are a big hit with the barely pubescent boy set, that shit's way better than Nat-Geo ever was.
.
Seems that there's a bit of a kerfuffle over nurses in the UK and after reading this article I'm not sure what that problem is. Some Lord has a bad experience, in his opinion, with his nurses while in hospital and then has this to say:
.
"The nurses who looked after me were mostly grubby - we are talking about dirty fingernails and hair - and were slipshod and lazy. Worst of all, they were drunken and promiscuous".
.
I don't know about you, but these girls sound like they're a pretty good time.
.
MMMMMMMMMMMMM dirty nurses.
.
From fast and loose to fast and loose, check out this cool race between a motorcycle, a Porsche and a fighter jet. You might be surprised at how this one shapes up.
.
Well that's her for now - but did you know that if you do a Google Image Search for Dirty Nurses with your safety filter off the first pic to come up links back to a page on here? That and the Drew Barrymore flashing Dave Letterman on his show account for a whole lot of my traffic.
.

One more time

Yep - SCotS (check out the fan submitted recipes on their site, there are some that sound pretty good, and I can't even think about tuna salad without horseradish in it now) two days in a row - posts what five days in a row?
.
The music that's all me, it's fun and funky everyone should like them. The posting, I think we can thank the time change, I'm still getting up at the same time but now it's an hour earlier so I gots me a lot more time in the morning, and this is how I spend it. Good thing I'm not a go getter or I might be doing something productive with my time instead of entertaining you lot.
.
This article might be of interest to some, it's all about why men visit brothels (that's nice way to say whorehouse BTW) from the point of view of an Aussie prostitute. Not once did she mention because the guys going through the door just wanted to get a piece or shag as different many birds as possible. I did see some what we were told were brothels when we were in Sydney, but I didn't go in . . . did visit a bondage house as part of the haunted ghost tour of Sydney though. Didn't see any ghosts in their, but there was some scary shit.
.
I'm disappointed, the website for the tour company says "Formerly by hearse, now by mini-bus". When we went we were toured around in a 1960-something Cadillac hearse, and it turned more heads on the streets of the city than some of the exotic cars I saw down by the Circular Quay.
.
But hey Australia's wonderfully different. Like read this article here about a stag party stripper being charged with rape for allegedly sodomizing the best man with a vibrator. Now that's something that didn't make it into the Tom Hanks film.
.
Buttsecks - I mean but since we're talking about the freaky deaky here, how's about we take a look at The World's 25 Strangest Fetishes and it's an illustrated look too boot. I have to wonder if Microphilia is an attraction to little people as in midgets/dwarves or just people smaller than yourself? Huh looks like I answered that question . . . so even though I like short birds, that doesn't specifically make me a Microphiliac . . . unless you count in Tinkerbell. Then maybe . . .
.
Oh I've said too much already. I'm outta here

Just a quick one . . .

. . . I'm flying off to Sachigo Lake this morning for the day, so I don't have a lot of time, but I'm here so I'll share something. Not one of my usual northern haunts, but hey that's how it goes, right? Right.
.
But hey who wants their MTV? I know someone must, so here's some good news, sorta. MTV has launched a website that's populated with entirely with music videos that you can watch and/or embed in your site or whatever. Downside I tried looking for two videos (The Cardigans - Lovefool and Motorhead - Ace of Spades and what I really wanted to figure out is if The Cardigans did a cover of Ace of Spades because for some reason I'd like to hear that) and neither were there, but maybe they're working on it.
.
Guess there's no need to slag off Youtube just yet, after everything is on Youtube.
.
And hey according to this article, I was right all along. Seems that the study referred to in the article reports that sharing your feelings after a trauma may not always be the best medicine, so suck it up buttercup.
.
I think I'll leave you with this gem, quite possibly one of the greatest episodes of animated television ever, Megadeth on Duck Dodgers. I mean how can you go wrong with spaceships being blowed up the metally fury of guitar lasers? Answer me that.

I'll Remember You

Sebastian Bach has gone country. What's the world coming to? Sure I mean I can see Hootie going country. But it's true, if you don't believe me check it out for yourself.
.
Now compare that to 18 and Life (which trust me sounds awesome in a Camaro, if you don't believe me maybe we can test it out in the spring). A classic for sure.
.
Maybe a better comparison is I'll Remember You, but you get the idea. No matter I'm not heart broken over this, just thought I'd share.
.
Well let's put some edge back on this, so here's a good interview with Ian MacKaye (of Fugazi, Minor Threat, Teen Idles, The Evens, Embrace, Egg Hunt, Skewbald/Grand Union and Pailhead).
.
And to put a bit of cartoony back into it, how about Metallica's "The Four Horsemen" (I remember seeing Metallica on that tour in the old Winnipeg Arena, my first concert ever, I might still have the concert shirt upstairs, although it'd be way to small and faded nicely as only metal shirts can do) recreated entirely in an NES synth? Check it out yo. Man it's so awesome you'd swear it was nine bit sound!
.
If that tickled your fancy then you'll also love the 8 bit NES Synth Final Countdown.
.
All right that's enough of that for now, eh? It's no secret that I've travelled a bit and I'm huge mark for almost anything English so naturally when I read this article, I thought sweet here's one, or I guess I should say two, big reasons to go back to England. Then I read this one and was over to Expedia to check some flight costs.
.
And shit while I'm over there might as well check out Scotland, I mean reading this article seems like it's an all right place to me. At least they've got their priorities straight.
.
Speaking of priorities although it might seem early I've nearly worn out my Sears Wishbook so Chrimbo must be close at hand and that means you need a tree. I don't, but for some reason you do.
.
Can you tell me why? I mean other than the fact your mum and dad did and so did their mums and dads? No matter it's always been so, so why stop? Anyway let me save you some work and show you where you can order your every own replica Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. Pretty awesome eh?
.
PS Oceania has always been at war with Eurasia.
.
Well that's enough of that. Think you're white and nerdy? Well find out just how white & nerdy you may or may not be here. Apparently I'm 42% white and nerdy. How do you stack up?
.
Well I think that's her for now, but I will sign off with a treat for the fans of wrestling and nudie magazines. Before she was a WWe Diva Mickie James did her time doing nude modelling and here's a nice set of photos that eerily foretold the future.
.
PS - check out the video I posted today, looks like someone has uploaded the entire and unedited Nirvana Unplugged performance, uncut to Youtube. Sure the quality's not the best and it's over an hour long but it will bring you back to those halcyon days of your youth when the only thing cooler than dressing in flannel and Docs was not giving a shit about anything.
.
Oh slacking, non-committal Gen-X where are you know? In your cube, decked out in chinos reading this probably. FTW.

So. Fraking. Metal.

.

Chuck says . . .

. . . I'm done with Sergio, treats me like a rag doll.
.
Ah remember that one? No? Come on, it was a big hit for Perry Farrell when he was fronting Jane's Addiction. It's a really good song, and not a whole lot like (but no so radically different either I suppose) what Jane's Addiction had going on the rest of the time. You can check out a really good live version of the song, complete with steel drums, here if you're so inclined.
.
If you don't remember Jane Says, I bet you still sing this song to yourself every time your popping a few grapes from the produce rack or a couple wine gums from the bulk candy bins when you're walking the aisles of the local Safeway (I hear it's today's better way too).
.
There's a bit of musical good news to share around as well - first off none other than the Watchmen are going to be playing a reunion show at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg (it's one great city you know?) on October 30 as part of Power 97's Powerball. Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10:00 AM. I don't know about you but I'm really thinking about hitting this one up.
.
Also rocking the shit out of Winnipeg will be none other than Mr. Danko Jones on October 9th at Silverados. I swear there's a conspiracy to keep me from seeing Danko play, I do believe I'm out of town for work that day and the really shitty part is I'll likely going to be in Winnipeg the day after this show. Show info here if you're interested, and if you like to rock you should be.
.
I'm sure that this tour won't be coming anywhere near to me, which is too bad, but according to this article the Pogues are going to be reuniting for a Christmas time tour (because nothing says Christmas like the Pogues. If you don't believe me listen to this), providing Shane McGowan lives that long that is.
.
If you're more into Hardcore then you'll be happy to hear that none other than the Bad Brains are reuniting on Election Day 2008 for their first show with original line-up in 10 years, and new album. You can read more about it here if. If you're not familiar with the Bad Brains, you should check them out they've got a great groove to their particular style of punk and I like most of their stuff as long as they aren't preaching Rasta too hard . . . which believe me they can and will do.
.
I just wonder if they're still banned in DC?
.
If you'd like to learn more about Hardcore, check out the book and/or film American Hardcore. Both are well worth the time you'll put into them.
.
That's it, I'm outta here for now . . . but baby I got to know, do you kiss on the first date?
