Lakehead Uni Mocks Geo W Bush in New Campaign

This is a direct quote from this article "As well as rolling out a series of posters, Lakehead University also took the campaign to its website, where readers are informed that "graduating from an Ivy League university doesn't necessarily mean you're smart."

Personally I think prefer their former, although unofficial, slogan/campaign "Lakehead, it's better than no head at all".

Check out this cool pic taken in London, England sometime in the late 40's. I was in this part of the city (Piccadilly Circus) but this was before my digital camera take a million pictures of everything phase.

Because we all need a little boost in the cube farm now and again here are some sweet Star Trek inspiration posters. Personally I'm partial to this one, and no not just because it's the first one there . . . maybe I'll make it my desktop at work for a while.

And one last link for the day that will surely be of interest to the geek set, 8 Ways Pirates of the Caribean Deadman's Chest Steals from Return of the Jedi. I thought it was an interesting read, but I'm definitely one of the geek set.

That's enough for now, later.

Gotta go back in time . . . .

Suprisingly this one has nothing to do with the Back to the Future franchise, well almost nothing. A time capsule was discovered while knocking down a Jr High School in Charleston. I should start to figure out a way to put them into buildings, eh? If only I had the secrets, powers and skills of the Free Masons. Just as an FYI Google Masons and get tons of hits and there's no shortage of formerly secret Masonic gear for sale on eBay at any given time, including sweet Masonic Fezes.

I'm thinking about getting one, or maybe one of these would more suit my sense of style?

Since I'm handing out rotten info on secret societies here's some on every other celebrity's religion of choice, Scientology. Googling scientology will get you loads of hits as well.

Actually there's loads of interesting information in the http://www.rotten.com library.

Because we're all Veruca Salt fans (both the Roald Dahl/movie character & the 90's Band) here's a link to Nina Gordon's (1/2 of the important part of the band (who are releasing a new record and going on tour (without Nina??) apparently)) website where she has some cool covers posted. Enjoy plaid wearing, Doc Marten lacing Gen X'ers.

Since I flogged Wikipedia a whole lot there here's a link to the most popular Wikipedia pages. Might make for some interesting reading.

In honour of my upcoming trip to Niagara Falls here's a link to a pic of the Falls (the American side I believe) froze solid. I'm sure there are better quality or larger pics of it online but that was the first one I found.

Anyone who's been up too late with the TV on knows the names Ron Popeil (set it and forget it) & RONCO all to well, and here for your reading/viewing pleasure is an article on Mr. Popeil and his top ten inventions. You may or may not have to skip over a Forbes.com welcome screen. I wonder if there's a pocket fisherman or two in the basement?

Finally, let's end this on an edutaining point and answer the age old question:

Homeless . . . or Jesus?

Well wonder no longer! Take the test at the link below and see if you can tell the difference between a homeless person and some people's lord and saviour Jesus Christ

http://www.liquidgeneration.com/games/homeless_jesus.asp

I scored 670 points myself - and one of them literally made me LOL to use the cool interweb hipster shorthand.

That's it, that's all.

Ground control to Major Tom . . .

Here's probably the biggest, highest resolution, coolest picture of the moon you'll see for a long long time. This is where the photographer talks a little about the picture, apparently that's the real colour of the moon.

Because everyone knows that I love metal and lists, here's a list of the top 50 metal albums of all time . . . although it seems like the guys who put this together only really listen to five different bands, but they are pretty good ones.

Since we've got it started might as well keep the metal flowing, click here for a video clip of a liquored up Kelly Clarkson (if you don't know her she was an American Idol contestant or winner or something like that) up on stage drinking and singing some G'n'R with the infamous band Metal Skool. It's ten minutes long, but I think it's amusing.

Gord bless YouTube . . . why don't you give this youtube search a try?

And one last thing for today, go here if you're interested in seeing how popular your last name is in the United States. Apparently mine ranks 846 in US. I bet most of those are in Louisianna. How does your name rank?

Until next time.

And now he sleeps with boozie angels . . .

Yesterday (September 5th) marks the fifth anniversary of Hank the Angry, Drunken Dwarf a sidekick of Howard Stern's (remember when he was worth listening to? I do) from his 'Wack Pack'.

And now onto something important, the Transformers movie. There's loads of buzz over this one and here's fuel for the fire with one of the actors (Shia LaBeouf who played Keanu Reeves' cab driving side kick in Constantine) from the film giving a long interview to Ain't it Cool News.com. I didn't read the interview because I was tired, but if someone could read it and pluck out the interesting stuff for me that'd be super. And some more from ain't it cool, pics of Optimus Prime. Personally I think he looks good, and a whole lot better than what Megatron is going to look like.

From the you knew it was coming sooner or later, is the Hobbit scheduled for shooting in 2007? Read this and you decide . . . or not. As long as the same people who put the Lord of the Rings movies together work on this one it should be wicked awesome.

And now it's time for something completely different, no not news on Monty Python, it turns out that our Honourable MP has decided that over the next ten years Canadian customs agents at the border will be outfitted with sidearms. Personally this is something that makes me a little sad. I always thought that it said something about our different view on the world and mindset that while the American Custom Agents at the border needed them, we didn't while defending the same border. I guess the times they are a-changin' and the terrorists are winning. If you don't think so ask yourself how much your life has had to change since September 11, 2001. If your stuck, think of your last trip to the airport.

For those of you who like it Hot Hot Hot here are the 15 hottest hot sauces as compiled by someone who's not me. A little Ass Reaper anyone?

If you're anything like me you prefer the curvy red headed Lindsay Lohan to the skinny coked out Paris Hilton Wanna be Lindsay Lohan. Well your in luck, here are some good side-boob type shots of her. I think that the world really needs some pictures of Lindsay partying with Tara Reid. That would be awesome.

I think that's all for now, see you later.

Crikey!

It's old news now, but Steve Irwin, aka the Crocodile Hunter, was killed in a freak accident while swimming with sting rays the other day. I have to wonder if being killed in the line of work like that is something that he would have been pleased with? Up side, at least he didn't have his kid in the water with him at the time (remember the feeding the croc with one hand, holding baby with other incident?).

Since we're already in the Land Down Under, in order to curb the size of the herds (I've been told there are literally herds of thousands roaming the country) of 'Roos roaming 'round the nations capitol scientists have developed an oral contraceptive for kangaroos, or in other words the pill for 'roos. Could this mean a sexual revolution for the marsupial world?

And now time for an important scientific break through - the people who brought you the Wonderbra are now selling underpants that will give your backside a lift for a sweet J'Lo style bootie all your own. I'll stick with the Spinal Tap cucumber underpants myself, thanks.

Away from science and onto literature - here's a list of the Ten Most Popular Books of All Time. I can honestly say that I haven't read any of these books all the way through and have only read bits and pieces of two of them. Can you guess which two?

Looks like I need to find another list of top sci-fi books so I can look like the literary giant I am.

Now onto a topic that we all hold near and dear, movies. Turns out that when asked about the upcoming instalment of the Indianna Jones series Mr. Lucas said "We're basically going to do The Phantom Menace," Which as unoriginal as it may sound at first, it should come as no suprise. After all the first IJ flick was such a blatant Star Wars rip-off it wasn't even funny. I know you love those movies, but re-watch it as an adult and you'll see what I mean.

And for the zombie fans a sequel to 28 Days Later, 28 Months Later, is in the works. I'd go see it, I enjoyed the first one quite a bit. Since I know you're all such zombie fans, here's a link to the American Federal Vampire & Zombie Agency's list of the Top 3 Zombie Outbreaks in US History.

For the comic book fans here's a list of upcoming Marvel media projects. I'm looking forward to the Nick Fury, Thor & Iron Man releases, but do we really need a Submariner or Ant-Man movie? PS the Marvel Directory is a pretty cool website . . . if you're into superhero bios that is.

If you like B-Movie superstar Bruce Campbell as much as I do then you'll be happy to hear that he is going to be starring in a movie where he plays Bruce Campbell (My Name is Bruce) who is confused for his Evil Dead character Ash and is enlisted to fight the monsters attacking said town. Now if that doesn't have winner written all over it, I don't know what does.

And finally for the fans of irreverent and offensive humour here's the link to the trailer for Borat's movie. Now that's definitely something that I will be seeing. In case you want some more Boratty goodness here's a link to his official home page, an unofficial one, and a soundboard. High five!

I think that's about enough for now, until next time.
