Better One in the Head . . .

Than the walking dead; that's right folks get your Zombie War propaganda posters here. They are cool but expensive as hell, but who said fighting the good fight would be cheap or easy. Also if you're really keen on fighting off the zombie hoards you'll definitely need a copy of the Zombie Survival Guide.

I've thumbed through it and it's full of a lot of really godo information, definitely a must have for the upcoming rise of the undead. And the author, Max Brooks, has some other no doubt interesting and informative Zombie reference books available.

Remember you don't need to reload a blade.

But hey we can't always be thinking gloom & doom, right? Even if things look dismal now with the threat of loved ones being turned in brain gobbling walking corpses, they can always get better. Although admittedly sometimes you might need some help or advice to get through the tough times, and hat's why I thought I'd let you know about this advice column by Oderus Urungus from GWAR. You may not have asked those questions, but I think that like fortune cookies and horoscopes they can apply to anyone if you want them too.

Wow don't you feel better now? I know I do.

That's about it for today, but I think I'll leave you with a YouTube clip of a Japanese cooking show starring none other than Hard Gay! I have to admit this guy is pretty amusing, but he's no Johnny Extreme. There are other Hard Gay videos up on YouTube if you're interested in checking out his other adventures.

Hooooooooooooooooooo!

I don't know what they're selling . . .

. . . but I'll take two. According to this article this ad featuring a saucy schoolgirl (and who doesn't love them? Terrorists that's who) trying to sell travel or air fares or something is a causing a bit of a stir . . . which says a lot when it's from the UK where they've got the beloved and hallowed institution of the Page 3 Girl . . . maybe the issue is because she has a shirt on?

B
ut I guess you just can't make the Brits happy; turns out that the country's youngest female councillor, all of 18, is causing a bit of a kafuffle with the pictures of herself that she's put on line. And the best part, she's not sorry about and isn't going to stop. You can read more about it here or just look at the pictures if that's all you're into.

(The link appears to be not working so well, so here's the URL

You may need to copy and paste it or click or something, you're smart, you'll figure it out. or if that doesn't work click the link and enter this "UK's youngest woman councillor, 18, poses in raunchy snaps" into the site's search box.)

Well if schoolgirls and naughty councilwoman don't do it for you, you must be a terrorist, and maybe Superheroes do and in that case you'll like this video of some superheroes partying a little too hard at Professor X's birthday party and you know it's a good party when they've got the Poison blasting away.

If that only served to wet your superhero whistle then perhaps you'd be interested in watching this seven plus minute long trailer for The Dark Knight that is (or maybe was?) airing before I Am Legend? There was a cool six minute trailer on YouTube that someone had cam captured from the IMAX, but she's gone now, but don't fret I'm sure it'll turn up somewhere else.

How about a real story about a real life superhero? An Australian cancer specialist has gone and done some mythbusting and has determined that coffee, water bottles, mobile phones, tampons, dental fillings, breast implants, and deodorants do not cause cancer. You can read more about it here if you're interested.

So please don't send me another email saying that eating something that i heated in the microwave in an old margarine container (aka Ukrainian Tupperware) or the water that I drank from a bottle I put in the freezer is going to kill me with cancer from the dioxins and or free radicals released into it. I didn't believe it before and I don't believe it now.

I was going to put some more stuff up but nah . . . I'm out of creative juices and tea, so that's her, but I would like to wish Hammerin' Hank Aaron a happy 74th birthday.

How About them Giants?

That was some good Superbowl last night, or what I saw when not falling asleep in my chair, go painkillers, go. Close game, no team running away with it, overall I'd say it was good to watch. Would have been better with the
Chargers in it though.

I'm just glad that my Superbowl prediction from several weeks ago came true. I know it's no call from the President of the US and A, but congratulations to Eli Manning and the rest of the New York Giants.

I didn't watch the halftime show last night, nor did I watch
the eating contest running on Spike, but it was finally someone that I like to listen to. But most of the time the Superbowl halftime shows are shit, and the good people at Cracked have compiled this list of they think are the ten worst Superbowl Half Time Shows.

Not that
Grey Cup halftime shows are any better, the only I can think of as being any good was when the Hip played the 2004 Grey Cup in Ottawa. I've only been to two Grey Cups, both in Winterpeg, and the first go 'round was Chris Sheppard and Love Inc in 1998 (If I remember right) and I spent the 2006 Grey Cup half time waiting for an opening at the trough instead of listening to Nelly Furtado.

But hey that's enough football for now, how's about some discussion on healthy eating? Everything is better with bacon, and that's a fact that everyone knows, from
bacon wrapped filet mignon steaks to bacon cheese bacon burgers to bacon cakes to maple bacon cookies. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm bacon.

Or
this article that claims that vegetarians are perverts of nature who slowly kill themselves, even if a friend says it's factually untrue, so much so that one could read the level extreme flabergastigation through an email. Hey it can't be completely true because there are groups of people who have historically been vegetarians, and they are still around, but damn if I don't like the message.

Anyway that's enough for today; but before I go anyone notice the subtle change? I've finally figured out how to make the links open in a new window (or when Is ay figured out I mean finally Googled how to do it). What do you think? Better? Worse? I know I prefer it.

But yeah I'm off, you stay classy San Diego.

We're stars and the sky belongs to stars

Today is the 49th anniversary of
The Day the Music Died, which if you didn't know isn't just a lyric from the Don McLean song, but in fact is the day that a small plane crashed outside of Clear Lake, Iowa while carrying The Big Bopper, Richie Valens and Buddy Holly to a show in Fargo, North Dakota.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Buddy Holly wouldn't have been killed in this crash he would have been recognized as the true King of Rock and Roll, and yes I still believe that
Elvis just sang cheap shitty pop songs . . . like a one man N Sync of the day, but with more sequins and fried peanut and bannaner sammiches.

So going to
Graceland (speaking of, wanna see what the off limits, no tourists upstairs of Graceland looks like?) for 'Boomers or Elvis fans in general is the equivalent of going to Justin-Timberlake-Land for a kid in High School now.

Yeah I said it. Think about it, you know it's true.

Yar Matie!

Avast me hearties, did ye know that May 2nd is Annual Scurvy Awareness Day? Well it is, and because I know it's something we're all concerned about, you can learn more about it over here. Now go suck a lime or something, don't want your teeth and hair falling out and blood pouring from your lips, gums and eyes do ye?

And here's a review of the memoirs of someone we know is all to familiar with scurvy, none other than Cap'n Crunch hisself (it's a well established fact that crunchberries are a poor source of vitamin C) aptly entitled "Memoirs of a Cap'n, the sad life of Horatio Magellan Crunch". Personally I'm waiting for Frankenberry's autobiography, because you know that guy has had an interesting life and would have great stories about Count Chocula and Boo-Berry (is it just me or is he so far in the closet he's got mothballs in his ears?).

And if you really miss those sugary breakfast time monsters from your youth and can't find them in the grocery store, you can always score some on eBay.

Speaking of things you can't find any more, how about this list from USA Today of 25 Things That Have Disappeared in the Last 25 Years? I have to disagree with #19 though, I mean my truck is defo not 25 years old and it has manual windows, and I've been other vehicles that have them as well. Makes me wonder how accurate the rest of the list is.

But maybe it's not specific products you miss, but their ads? Like these few sweet old timey ads; oh how the times they are a changin'.

Or perhaps it's the optimistic view of the future that people used to have, like the world of the year 2000 as featured in these postcards from the year 1900. I think they were a little off the mark, but not totally, I mean their moving pavement isn't quite right, but who hasn't enjoyed the people sized conveyor belts in large airports?

But hey enough of the past, how about some of the future? How about my future? Just so you know I'm not planning anything but if I ever get arrested I want to get hauled in like this double murdering bastard from Allentown. And just so you know, this is the kind of obituary I'd like, no sense becoming overly serious at the end when I can laugh at just about anything now, eh?.

Well I think this is it for now, until next time.

Leaving on a prop plane . . .

Well folks I'm heading up to Wunnumin Lake this morning for work and should be home tomorrow evening, barring anything unforeseen or horrific. But I'm quite sure that the worst thing that will happen is I'll be too cold and there won't be anything on TV tonight.

But hey enough of the whinging, eh? Let's get down to some serious business, like did you know that it was yesterday in 1951 that every one's favourite Communist Dictator (contemporary of course) Fidel Castro had his dreams of being a pro baseball player dashed when he was tossed out of a winter league game during tryouts for the Washington Senators? Apparently it's true . . . imagine what Cuba would look like now if he had been successful at baseball? Imagine what the MLB would look like if he had been successful at baseball.

And of course let's not forget that yesterday actor Heath Ledger was found dead in a New York apartment. Mr. Ledger was 28 years old, meaning he just missed out on the Greats Dead at 27 Club which includes such greats as Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain. Maybe there are more? You tell me.

Perhaps his performance of The Joker in The Dark Knight will be his last on screen appearance, depending on what happens with his film currently in production, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

And if Mr. Ledger could have held off one more day he would share a death date with every one's favourite drippy clock painting Surrealist artist Salvador Dali, who died on this very day, but in the year 1989.

I like Dali's work myself, and was lucky enough to see an exhibit of his in London, England in August of 2001. That's right bitches, I travel and enjoy art, I'm more than just a wise cracking, cartoon watching, quasi-news reading wise ass. You can check out more here if you're interested.

And today I'll sign off with one more reason to visit England, in case you didn't have enough already, apparently the average Brit drinks the equivalent of 37 bottles of whisky each year. I don't know about you but I'm way behind on my boozing already by this standard and it's not even February yet.

Better get on that this weekend, eh?

Until next time.

I'm turning Japanese . . .

Anyone out there own a rice cooker? After a brief conversation with a coworker about them I'm thinking about getting own for my own self, was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to look for or a good model to buy or almost anything rice cooker related. Any recipes (I do like flavouring rice) you want to share would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

And just to prove how Asian I'm becoming, here's a link to the Official Ramen Homepage, complete with recipes (you many want to try adding a tablespoon of mango chutney to boiling water and noodles if you're into eating your ramen soup style). Man some people take their Ramen pretty seriously.

Now let's step away from the Asian cuisine (okay one more I'm also after some good curry recipes, especially some fish curries, so if you've got some hook a brother up) and get onto the public service announcement ticket.

Last week I received several copies of the same or similar email from various well meaning people about a new gang in Thunder Bay (from Winnipeg of course) snatching and raping women as initiation; if you live in the region and saw that email as well you can rest a little better now as according to the Thunder Bay Police it's not true. Of course you can always opt to believe that the police are just trying to cover these horrible crimes up, which is, of course, your right.

It's no secret that I like music, I'm a big fan and I think I have a great and varied tastes in music, and it's everyone else's that's shitty, but man am I disappointed with Rolling Stones Top 100 Songs of 2007. I only know one of the songs in the top four and I don't think it's at all good . . . but maybe I'm just out of touch with what's cool? Maybe, but then again I've never been huge into top 40 music.

Yeah I guess I'm an elitist music snob to a point, after all we all know that if you listen to popular music you're not as cool as those of us who listen to the bands you've never heard of. But honestly I'm cool and can probably recommend something that you'd like.

Anyway here's a website that the subversive photographers will get a kick out of; Strictly No Photography, a collection of photos of signs/places telling you that you're not allowed to take pictures there. In fact this one is my new wallpaper. Naughty Naughty!

And I think I'll sign off today with an article, albeit is several months old, makes total sense to me and backs up an unpopular statement that I made at work a while ago; nut allergy boy barred from school as a ‘health hazard’. Honestly it's hard to argue against the good of the many out weigh the wants of the few right? Well of unless, of course, *I* happen to be one of the few, then it's a completely different story, innit?

Okay I lied, I'm going to sign off with more pics of Miss Spears flashing her hippo yawn for all to see. Enjoy.

That's it for realz now.

Holy Macaroni, it's another entry!

Wow they've been coming fast & furious eh? Well don't get too used to it, who knows by next week I might not have the time or drive to do this regularly for a while again. Anyway on with the show . . .

From the as you wish files; looks like Sean Penn & Robin Wright are getting divorced; poor Princess Buttercup, if only her Westley would come rescue her. Maybe I should dust off my Dread Pirate Roberts costume, eh?

Enough celebri-gossip for now, eh? How about some fine art? Like this collection of 30 surealist paintings by Vladimir Kush. If you like some of Dali's work then those links are ones you should check out, the paintings are just great, there's always something in there that is something else. I know I'm not explaining it well, but once you look, you'll see.

If that wasn't quite your taste, how about this collection of paintings by contemporary artists of Marvel comics superheroes done as a tribute the one the only Mr. Stan Lee? There are some really good and interesting pieces in that collection that I would not be ashamed to have hanging on my wall, and I don't think I'm just saying that because I'm a geek . . . but I'm sure that helps.

And from the art that you display to the art you eat; move over turducken, there's a new king in town and he feeds 125 and takes 8 hours to cook; feast your eyes on this bad boy here. Although even that pales in comparison the Bedouin wedding dish of whole stuffed camel, where eggs are stuffed into fish, the fish stuffed into cooked chickens, the chickens stuffed into a roasted sheep's carcass and the sheep stuffed into a whole camel . . . although someone may have just made this whole thing up.

Now let's combine things a little and look at some fine art made from eggs. Pretty amazing stuff eh? And here I bet you were expecting your typical Ukrainian Easter Eggs (don't get me wrong, these are works of art as well), eh? You should know better by now.

Because I know you like it like that, here are some nudie pics of WWe Diva and Go Daddy spokes-boobs Candice Michelle.

And I'd like to finish off with a happy 28th birthday to Zooey Deschanel. I don't know about you but I do love to see her on the screen.

Until next time

Where's the Earth Shattering Kaboom!

Today marks the 17th anniversary of the start of Operation Desert Storm, which was broadcast into homes around the world courtesy of the fine folks over at CNN. How time flies eh?

But I think that's enough seriousness for today, how about something in bad taste? Sure if you really want it, how about Hitler singing I Want to Break Free by Queen? I knew you'd like that. And while we're talking about Nazis, how about an interesting write up about the five top brands that these goose stepping eugenicists gave us. I have to admit that I didn't know about 4 of 5 listed there.

I thought I was going to stear away from the serious?

Well let's lighten things up some with The Hoff's Top 20 Most Embarrassing Photos on the Web. There are some gooders there, I like this one myself and in this one he looks like he's trying to cruise for doods, maybe like in that Rusty video . . . Remember Rusty?

Since we were almost sorta talking rock back there, how about The Gigantour? This tour should be pretty sweet; featuring Megadeth, In Flames, Children of Bodom, Job for a Cowboy and High on Fire (I don't know the last two but I like the first three) and it has a May 10 stop at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. Oh you know I'll be getting my metal on.

And I'd like to sign off with a belated happy fifth birthday to Trogdor the Burninator! Oh and here's one from Strongbad. Many happy returns my friend. If you haven't seen the original Trogdor cartoon you're missing way out and I'd say you weren't an Internet Hipster if this were four years ago, but no matter here it is.

Insert witty title here

I just can't bear to . . . but hey it's a big and interesting day in history today, for example did you know that today Lisa Lisa (born Lisa Velez) from Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam (not to be confused with The Cult or My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult) is 41 today? Honestly I didn't and until I read that I had even forgot about her and her band's existence.

Today in 1929 American Civil Rights Leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia.

It was also on today in 1947 that the body of 22-year-old Elizabeth Short ,nicknamed the Black Dahlia, is discovered in a vacant lot, her mutilated corpse chopped in half at the waist. Her murder is known as The Black Dahlia Murder (not to be confused with the contemporary metal band), and becomes one of the most lurid murder cases in LA. To date the murder has never been found. This story became the subject of a Brian De Palma film starring Josh Hartnett and Mia Kirshner as the Dahlia based on the novel by James Elroy.

I haven't seen the film but I'm guess it can't be that great if it's only got a rating of 5.5/10 on IMDB.

And in 1974 the first episode of Happy Days aired and finally in 1988 Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder's racist statements regarding the breeding history of slaves and black athletes costs him his job at CBS.

You know I'm sure some more historically important things happened today, but how can you mention those in the same breath as the debut of the Fonz?

Although decidedly not of historical significance, yet, or a pop culture icon, check out this website of an Englishwoman Lois who one day chucked it all in and rode her Yamaha XT 225 Serrow from Alaska to Argentina. Now that'd be a serious adventure, don't you think? I think I'll start small and take mine up Sioux Mountain when the weather permits.

But let's change focus a bit, it's no secret I like photography and someday I might be a good photographer, but that's besides the point, how's about I share some cool photos I've found? Like this set of strange and maybe confusing signs? I've actually seen this one live and in the flesh in Oz. Or how about these photos that look Photoshopped, but aren't? Cool eh? This one really freaks me out though. Or these great photos that were snapped at *just* the right time. Now there are some really awesome pics there for sure.

And since this post is decidedly lacking in the geekery department, how about I close off with the Top 10 Craziest Star Wars Tats? I think this one has to be my favourite, but I don't know if it's as awesome as the finger 'stache tat. Now that's a classic.

Until next time.

The Simpsonsssssssss

It was today in 1990 that the Simpsons debuted on the FOX network (aka the network that bad taste built) although I think that counts as its show and not when it was just short animation clips used to bookend the commercial breaks on the Tracy Ullman Show. Here's something to stop and think about, this little factoid means that if you aren't more than 18 years old today you've never known a world without the Simpsons. How's that for cultural perspective?

To switch gears from one form of geekery to another, remember the TV show Knight Rider? Well it's going to be remade and here are some of the first published pictures of what the new KITT will look like. Yep it's no longer a third generation firebird (and I'm assuming Micheal Knight will have better hair now too), but now is a Shelby GT500KR Mustang.

Now all I'm wondering is what will KARR be now?

Hey, did you know that Gentle Giant is selling their life-size Star Wars monuments online? Well they are. You can read more about it here, or you can just go to their website.

All I want to know is what's up with Leia's boobs? Come to think of it she looks more like how a stripper or porn star trying to look like Princess Leia would look than actually looking like Princess Leia, but that's just my opinion . . . but then again maybe I'm just hung up on stripping porn stars.

And does anyone know when Space is going to start airing the newest and last season of Battlestar Galactica? I needs to get my Cylon on.

From geekery to overpriced real estate, apparently Toronto's Littlest House is for sale, still or again I don't know which. It's a neat little house and really keep you cluttering the place up with shit.

And here's some good news for fellow tinnitus sufferers (thanks Motorhead, I'll carry a little piece of your April 22, 2005 show at the Walker (Burton Cummings) Theatre with me forever. Actually it was an awesome show; Damn 13, 3 Inches of Blood, Corrosion of Conformity and Motorhead all on one bill.), looks like a German doctor has had some success treating the problem with magnetic fields. I'm sure I've way over simplified it, but you can read more about it here if you like. If you've got tinnitus as well and are looking for support, information or whatever here's a link to the Tinnitus Association of Canada. Now idea how good the site or its information is or isn't, it just came up in a Google search.

Well I think that's enough for today, but I will sign off with a photo gallery of WWe Diva Candice Michelle's pre-fame fetish/bondage photoshoot. The pics aren't really worth looking at unless you're really into seeing girls from TV tied to columns as I think the stuff she does now with the WWe and on TV is way more pornographic than these photos. But maybe I just have high standards for filth?

May the fours be with you!

It's Swedish for Common Sense

After reading this, about a man who plans/panned to live in IKEA for a week, I wouldn't be too surprised to see fellow blogger Willow of the Wood trade in Steve and Mila for Sven and Mika and become Willow of the Flat-Pack.

And I'm sure *if* you've listened to me in the past you'll remember I've said how I'm not the kind of person that shops at IKEA, which is too bad because I do like their clean simple designs and have found some bedroom furniture there that I like. But don't worry I'd still like to get some living room furniture to match my recliner from the good folks at La-Z-Boy.

Man I love that chair and after a couple of years it has a serious ass divot worn into it. Who knows maybe some day if you're lucky you'll get to sit in it.

But hey, enough furniture talk let's talk about something important, like drunken midgets! Looks like the Dad (Matt Roloff) from TLC's hit show Little People, Big World trial for his drunk driving charge just started according to this article. And the best part, apparently this wasn't his first DUI charge. Talk about little people big boozers, eh?

Well this is going to be a short one, but don't fret I will leave you with something you can watch over and over and over again for days on end; VIKING KITTIES! And because I know how much you loved that video, how about your very own plush viking kitty?

That's it I'm out of here.

Back to the Grind

Well my giftmas hollydaze are over and I'm back to work this morning . . . it's going to be tough to get back to work after two weeks off and doing pretty much nothing with them, but hey I ain't complaining.

But that's not why you're here . . . you're here for cool stuff like this GM Blog with a pic of the new Camaro on the track. It's no small secret that I'm a Camaro fan but this is the first time I've seen the fifth generation Camaro from this angle, and Ihave to say I'm less than impressed with the ass end of the car. Maybe it'll look better in person and honestly it looks awesome from the front. Maybe I'm too picky, ah well it's not like I'm going to go out and buy one anyway . . . after all I did just buy myself a new toy before giftmas.

From the don't look now files, here's an article with an awesome photo of a great white shark stalking a dude in a kayak. I have no idea what the article says and I don't care, the pic is that awesome. Maybe it will be my new windoze wallpaper?

Or maybe it will be one of these; ever wonder what Mecca looks like during a pilgrimage, or Hajj? Well thanks to these photos you can wonder no longer. Trust me they are there, you just have to scroll way down to get at them. Man it's crowded, it looks more jammed with people than a Chinese Water Park.

Or maybe I'll go with this bad boy composite of the Winter Solstice sun tracking across the sky from the good folks at NASA. They may have trouble with Metric conversions, but man can they take a photo.

Or perhaps I'll use one of these photos from some one's collection of the best photos of 2007? Actually there are some really powerful and amazing photos in that collection, but I don't know about you but I think that this one is just begging to be Photoshopped. And no I'm not saying that as some sort of Anti-Bush political statement . . . I just think it would make a great base for something like this or this . . . but that's just me.

Well that's it for now; I'll leave you with a dark YouTube video of Hayden Panettiere celebrating NYE and having her top slip down, and her miraculous save. Remember Save the Cheerleader, Save the World.

Later

Happy New Year!

So it's been about a month since I was posting anything here . . . hopefully that's not going to be regular schedule but who knows, and even if it were, hey you get what you pay for right?

First things first; did you have a good Giftmas? Did you get some sweet new toys? Any from RetroCrush's Toy Hall of Fame? You know I still have a few barrels of monkeys kicking around here and fondly remember being able to shoot pennies out of my disc shooting gun . . . ah the memories. All I know is I wish I would have known about this shirt before the hollydaze . . . but hey there's always next year, right?

But hey let's get over that and and get down to bidnizz bitches; as we all are or should be aware 2007 recently ended and that means that everyone is putting together their end of year lists and man do I love lists; well here's a website that has compiled links to many many many different end of year lists, to make it so much easier for you. You should thank them. Shit they've even put links to previous years end of year compilation pages at the bottom of that page . . . what more could you ask for?

Well maybe a link to the Dickheads of the Year as compiled by Bill Maher. Luckily I didn't make the list, did you?

And jut in case you missed it, here is the 2007 edition of 50 Things We Know Now (That We Didn't Know This Time Last Year). You can lie and say that you knew all them already, but that would make you some kind of douche and just in case you're wondering just how douchey you are check out the Douchemaster 2000. Apparently I'm a hardcore douche, how do you rank?

With the new year comes all sorts of high hopes dreams and plans . . . and of course new movies. There are some on the list that I think are must sees, like Iron Man, Hellboy 2, The Dark Knight (just kidding here's the real teaser trailer and how about these promo pics?), Get Smart, Incredible Hulk (hopefully this will more than make up for the Ang Lee pile of wank released in 2003), Prince Caspian, the new Bond flick (Daniel Craig and Casino Royale redeemed the series in my mind) and yes even the newest Harry Potter movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I'm sure there'll be a whack of stinkers and movies that I won't see and even more than a few that I shouldn't have seen . . . but that list doesn't look too bad does it?

For those of you who think I'm mean to Kitty, check out this video of some cat rocking it in zero G. I guess this is the NASA equivalent of putting tape on the cat's feet?

Oh and before I forget (okay bad joke, you'll get it in a minute), I'd like to sign off with a some bad news for fans of the Discworld, according to this article from the BBC author Terry Pratchett has Alzheimer's disease. I don't know about you but I'll miss these stories when he stops writing them, they're brilliant . . . and I have to thank Warren in Stevenage for turning me on to them.

How about something from the did you know files? Did you know that you can't eat a whole tablespoon of cinnamon? You can't, if you don't believe me check out any of these videos. If you think you can do it, if anything happens it's not my fault because I gave you the idea and please please please video tape it to share with us, we all like a good laugh.

Well I'll sign off with some pics of a pregnant X-tina pulling a Britney. Enjoy.

Hey remember that time when I would post stuff a few times a week?

Dead or Alive?

The other day I tried this Celebrity are they dead or alive quiz and managed to get 17 correct, how did you do? You might be surprised to see who is or isn't dead these days. Sadly the quiz had no mention of undead celebs. If you're really keen on keeping up with which celebs are dying when it's news you can always sign up for the Celebrity Death Beeper. If you sign up for the service they'll email you headlines/news when a celebrity dies, be prepared though, it's not just a-listers who buy it.

Speaking of dead celebs this past weekend at the age of 69 Evel Knievel died, sadly of natural causes. With him gone who will pilot, or at least attempt to pilot, our rocket powered motorcycles over the gorges and canyons of the world?

If you've got someone on your giftmas shopping list who's into the strange & unusual you may want to consider getting them something from the Ship of Fools 12 Days of Kitschmas list, a collection of some of the finest gift ideas ever assembled on one smart ass website.

If that doesn't do it for you, how about a board game based on the classic Christmas movie, A Christmas Story? Maybe this year I'll finally get that Daisy Red Ryder 500 shot carbine action BB gun I been asking for so long.

If a Red Ryder is a little to butch and underpowered for you, maybe you need something from the good people over at Glam Guns like this sweet Hello Kitty decorated AK?

Well that's her for today - how's about I leave with a little video of Adam West Batman rocking a little sweet Batusi action?

Until Next time.

Back in Black

Well after over a month I'm back on the blog; where have I been you ask? Well what's it to you? You a cop or something?

No matter I've been halfway around the world and back again brothers and sisters, I've been to the Hong Kong Airport (twice), Singapore, the Gopeng/Ipoh region in Malaysia, Betong Thailand, Kuala Lumpur, Wapekeka and last week Toronto & Thunder Bay. So I've been busy . . . and lazy . . . and not that motivated. It happens.

But yeah I'm back now and hopefully will be more regular on here . . . but we'll see no promises eh. But at least I'm here today and today we're going to explore some stuff on Google Maps. We'll start with a map showing the hotel we stayed at in Singapore, the Perak Hotel. Here's a map of our home base in Malaysia the town of Gopeng.

Here's a map showing our Thai stop over Betong.

This is a map showing where we stayed (the Mariott) in Kuala Lumpur which was a short cab ride away from the Petronas Towers (5 Ringatt to get there, 15 to get back). If you haven't seen the towers here they are on a map.

Enough vacation, how about some work stuff? In alphabetical order here are the communities I go to for work, starting with a map of Kasabonika Lake and here's the community website. From Kas it's off to Kingfisher Lake and here's their community map. After Kingfisher it's off to Wapekeka (aka Angling Lake) to check out their community from space. These three communities all have pretty good resolution in their maps and you can zoom in quite close although I can say for certain that the map of Kas is over a year out of date.

Now we're off to Wawakapewin (aka Longdog) their map doesn't have the detail of the last three but the community is pretty small with a road, a few other pubic buildings, a water pump house and a diesel generator. And trust me it's not the best place to get weathered in over the weekend.

Our last stop will be Wunnumin Lake, where again their map is lacking in a lot of detail. I can only assume that there isn't much mineral exploration going in the area.

Ain't Google Maps grand?

Until next time.

To boldly go where no man has gone before . . .

Today is the 16th anniversary of the death, by heart attack in a Santa Monica hospital, of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. Since we're talking Star Trek, looks like the cast for the upcoming film has been set; check it out over at IMBD. Big ups for being bold enough to put Shaun of the Dead and Harold on the bridge of the Enterprise . . . that is if this movie has the Enterprise in it, as this film is supposed to be a chronicle of the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members during their time at Starfleet Academy.

In case you're planning to dress up for Hallowe'en and haven't tracked down a costume yet perhaps you can find something here in Cracked's list of the 30 Most Unsettling German Hallowe'en Costumes? I know it's right off the top but how about the cellphone costume? Man you gotta be confident to wear that one.

And if you wanna have that premium jack-o-lantern why don't you check out this tutorial showing how to make pumpkin stencils from photographs or try this one here. Good luck and if you make one share the pic, eh?

They're not quite Hallowe'enie but they are kinda creepy and kooky, but not quite mysterious and ooky, check out these pics are that are made up of half real scenes and half pictures from magazines. Sure it might not make sense right now but click the link they are pretty cool, if I do say so myself.

And I think I'll sign off today with a piece of information that no doubt will be of use to everyone, how to remove CD scratches with a bannana. I haven't tried it so I can't speak from experience about how well it works, but if it's on the internet it has to be real, right?

Until next blog.

Sonofabitch!

I just full on bit my lip, shit did that hurt. You'd think with over 30 years of eating experience I'd be done with that, but apparently fuck no. Ah well what can you do eh?

Anyway onto the important stuff; it's secret that I like lists and I like to read so this one is a perfect fit, the Random House Modern Library's list of 100 Best Novels, as rated by their board and by their readership. I've only read four (believe it or not) from the Board's list, but I have read 14 from the Reader's list and am currently reading their number #1 pick. Looks like the readership has a whole lot more sci-fi/fantasy geeks in it than the board does.

Since we're talking lists here's a list of the Ten Most Awful Action Figures (the list must've been written by a lady because no self resepcting man would call an action figure a doll). I have to agree that there is some shit in that pile but I really have to disagree with a few of them.

Like Mr. T at number 9? I pity the foo' who don't think Mr. T is still cool . . . and I'm not just saying that because I have that same action figure in my living room still in its original packaging. I know, holy comic-book guy Batman.

I also have to disagree with the Hitler action figure at number 3; granted he was an evil horrible person who deserved death and then some for his crimes, but the action figure itself doesn't look bad. Good likeness, good uniform, to me it seems like a good action figure of a very bad person . . . maybe that's what makes it awful? But then again that can't be the criteria, can it? If so you've got some splaining to do for the number 1 pick.

Oh and just in case you're in the hunt for more different Third Reich Action Figures, look no further here you go. Man what isn't there on the interweb.

I'm also thinking that the lady who put the list together must've been a devote Christian to put the Almighty God action figure, with AK-47 and slightly Freddie Mercury-esque cape in at number 1.

Enough lists for now, how about a little shmaltz? Seems that a class of school kids have adopted an American Airborne Captain currently deployed in Iraq and as part of the deal they've sent him a little stuffed bear. Obviously this guy is a good shit because he's taken the time to photograph the bear's adventures and keep the kids updated on his goings on via this website.

And today i think I'll sign off with a video on YouTube of the Tourette's Guy. I don't know if it's all the painpills I've been taking but man that me laughing so hard I was crying . . . or maybe I'm just a bad person. Anyway if you liked that, here's some more sweet Tourette's Guy action on YouTube for you. Obviously you don't want to be watching these while at work.

And personally I don't think their garbage disposal sounded like Chewbacca taking a shit either, but maybe it was just the bad audio on that clip?

Oops, she did it again!

Well it looks like everybody's favourite Mouseketeer southern gal turned pop tart and walking train wreck Britney Spears has gone out with her underpants on again. Man I've seen Britney's shiny giny so many times now I'm starting to think we might be taking our relationship to the next level and I don't know if I'm ready for that.

Slightly more seriously the woman has to be an exhibitionist, I mean why else would she forgo wearing gitch in public when she knows (or at least I know) there'll be swarms of photographers around ready snap a few shots of lady parts? Or maybe she's just dumb and trashy?

You can see more photos here and here if you're interested.

But that's enough of that for now - last night I happened to watch about the last 2/3's of Wales' answer to Jackass, Dirty Sanchez, not to be confused with the sex act, film (here's the trailer on YouTube if you're curious). Wow was that movie something, many of the stunts were quite disgusting, may have involved minor cannibalism and a whole lot of vomiting. I enjoyed it but spent a lot of the movie groaning, retching and/or hiding my eyes.

There are a bunch of other Dirty Sanchez clips on YouTube here if you wanna see.

Since we're on the topic of dirty, how about this article that brings a whole new meaning to the term dirty nurses.

And finally I'll sign off with this article from the Telegraph in the UK, which I found rather amusing, aptly entitled 30 reasons why we hate the french. Maybe number 11 is why in my mind I imagine that Paris smells like pee?

Well that's all for now - later days.

So, did you pick a winner?

Looks like in my riding (Kenora-Rainy River in the hizay!) the NDP MPP (and Provincial Party Leader) Howard Hamptom was re-elected along nine other of his cohorts across the province in what looks a huge Liberal majority government.
.
Not only was it election, but it was also referendum day and looks like close 2/3's of the Ontarians who did vote (record low for voter turnout yesterday with 52.6% of eligible voters voting) voted against the Mixed Member Proportional governmental system in favour of the existing First Past the Post system. You can read a little about it here if you like, but what more do you need to know . . . not that it matters I guess I think most people just voted against it because it was different and think that our present system is the same as the one that the see on TV from the US.
.
But enough of the real news, did you know that it was today in 1981 that Andy Kaufman successfully defends his World Intergender Wrestling Champion title in Atlantic City, by defeating Playboy magazine's Miss September, Susan Smith, pinning her at the 18-minute mark.
.
And decidedly un-pron related, but no doubt the best news you'll read all day according to this article none other than Mr. Samwise Gamgee aka Sean Astin says that "Goonies 2" an absolute certainty. .
.
Hey gotta love IMDB - it just learned me that Mr. Astin will be starring as Twoflower in a BBC adaptation of none other than Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic . . . but the big question is who will play The Luggage? That's wicked, because I don't know about you, but I heart The Discworld.
If you're a fan of fantasy stories and British humour a la Hitchhiker's Guide (book of course not the movie, so much of the humour from the novels just couldn't be translated to the big screen) then you should definitely check out the Discworld books.
.
Well I should get going, gotta go up to Kingfisher Lake for the day, but before I go check out this sweet map of the Community from Google Maps . . . shit the Google Maps for my town aren't close that detailed.

How's the Turkey Hangover?

I had goose this year for Thanksgiving myself so maybe I avoided all the tryptophan? If you're curious about the holiday and wonder why we get a three day weekend out of it, here's a bit of history on the day. Me, I'm just happy it's a paid day off.

Now if only we get one in February like Alberta and Manitoba . . . I think the NDP said that we should have one, too bad they only won 7 seats in the last provincial election . . . and one of them was in my riding.

Here's a great website to check out called Found Magazine, basically people scan and send in things they find like letters, notes, photos, whatever. This one here is a favourite of mine so far, because well it's some damned good rules to live by. If only it had a reference to the He-Man Woman Haters Club.

Here's another that I thought was cool and mostly because I know what it's about, WWe Wrestler Bob Holly being thrown through a table and having a gash get ripped in his back on piece of the table. I tried to find a video on line but no luck, but often times they show the clip in a "Don't try this at home, kids." segment that they air.

If you liked Found Magazine perhaps you'd also enjoy this website simply entitled Pictures of Walls, which is a collection of photos of things written on, you guess it walls.

This is another very cool website that is a collection of found photos that the site admin found by developing the film he found in old cameras he acquired. A very interesting, voyeuristic look into people's lives, eh?

But that's enough for now, so today I will leave you with this sweet shirt here, aptly titled Guitar Solo. You know you want one. Okay one more thing, since we're literally rocking the Star Wars how about Bill Murray as lounge singer Nick Winter singing his tribute to Star Wars?

Later.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnsssss

Today in 1968 the classic cult horror film Night of the Living Dead is released in movie theaters. This low-budget movie, directed by George A. Romero, centers around a farmhouse surrounded by the undead. Romero's early zombies lurch uncomfortably across the countryside (unlike the fast smooth moving zombies of 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead), stopping occasionally to snack on humans unlucky enough to escape, otherwise banging on boarded windows demanding snacks. This film has spawned several sequels and is responsible for setting the ground work for pretty much every zombie film to follow, and this time I don't mean Rob Zombie.

If you haven't seen it you can watch it here if you like.

If zombies aren't your thing, then maybe Mickey and the gang are? Because it was 36 years ago today that Walt Disney, the company, not the man, who died in 1966, opened Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida. If you're interested in a bit of history/information on the park that you might nto usually get do read this write up here, it's long but interesting.

But let's switch gears from history, to giggity; according to this article from EW industry sources claim that Jessica Biel (not to be confused with Jennifer Beals) is in talks to swing the trusty Lasso of Truth as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Justice League movie (currently without cast and scheduled for a 2010 release); although this one from MTV says she turned down the offer. I guess my being excited about this news means that I am more fan boy than I like to admit, eh?
You may also be interested to see the evolution of Wonder Woman over time, for instance how about this panel from a DC Golden Age Wonder Woman comic and this panel from a more up to date comic.
And I'll sign off today with a little more giggity; here are pics of Keeley Hazell done up like a pin up model from the 40's. Man all I can say is I loves the pin up girls. Anyway if you likes those pics of Miss Hazell, perhaps you'd be interested in some more?
And that's it for today.
